I believe the marketing will revolve heavily around the Joker hence I predict big money being made here.

The good thing about big star casting is that they have big egos - villains have big egos and only think about themselves. Heroes are the opposite and work as a team. The only famous actor in the Justice League is Afleck. Superman, Cyborg, Aquaman, Flash, Wonder Woman are all played by not-so-famous actors.

Page 8: WB/DC is going to make a $300m movie w/ some sub characters and Joker and an expensive actor that doesn't draw people to weak movies to throw around their tent poles.

That cast is impressive. Already off to a better start than that other WB/DC film in 2016.

Finally, it looks like DC is headed somewhere.

He's been a crime boss with henchmen plenty of times. It's not so out there. And that combination would make it very interesting, no?

I think the Joker sticks out in this group, he doesn't really fit, yet without him it all feels a bit meh because there isn't any standout characters. At least GofG had a tree and a talking hyper active raccoon.

For me, Smith is the only big question mark. Will he be able to truly give us a good villain? A truly visceral villain? I have a feeling he'll just "be there" and won't offer anything really that fun to watch as Deadshot.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy everything Smith does. I just get the feeling that his usual "show up and get paid" approach will not work with this project. He will have to work very hard to make us enjoy watching him enjoy his characters anarchistic nature.

With everyone involved, this has jumped to almost the top of comic book movies I am anticipating over the next few years.

I agree. Did they get Smith because he's the best person for the role? Or did they get him just because they wanted a big movie star to lead their movie based off comics the general audience has never heard of?

Hopefully it's the former. Casting someone just because they're a name probably isn't the best course.

Never cared for The Suicide Squad, but I always thought Deadshot was awesome. I'm sure Smith will do well.
