The dude hasn't had much luck with flying vehicles recently, whether real or fantastical. The plane isn't some mangled lump of metal so hopefully his injuries, although serious, aren't life threatening.
Nope. But one swallow doesn't make a tauntaun; lying comes as easy as breathing to Lucas, and the worst thing is that he believes every word of it. My personal favourite was when he said that the sequel trilogy was an invention of the media, even though Spielberg and McCallum (who was supposedly Lucas' lap dog) were on tape saying that George always had nine films planned.

No part of my comment suggested that others are not welcome to express their opinions, I said that your comment was completely non sequitur, and that I do not welcome engagement from you specifically. Call me quirky, but I have a general rule against discourse with people who post threats and profanity on my profile page but then have the gall to go crying to mods about being bullied when I voice my objection to those threats and profanities.

Did I say that it "affected" me? Does it have to "affect" me before I can give my opinion on the man? You're the one who brought Gertie into this. Alls I can say is, I see both sides of the coin. His achievements have been quite phenomenal and as a bold young filmmaker he was brilliant, but he disappeared up his own black hole years ago, cocooned from the real world by the corporate machine he built around him.

Now, my question is: how many web pages and chat forums are dedicated to scorching hatred and personal viciousness against the license-owners of any of those films? How many people would even consider carrying on a years-long hate campaign over any other film not being released? And yet here we are, watching people in all seriousness actually using the excuse "because he hasn't released the specific edits that I want, of films that are in fact available", to justify their own years-long hate-campaigns against Lucas; even though, at this point, the man doesn't even own the films anymore, yet these people still will not let up.
This is not rational, it is visceral and unjustifiable.
edit: the other popular excuse for pouring hatred on the man is that "his new movies aren't as good as his old movies." Seriously. The same thing is true of so many other filmmakers, and so what? Should they have burned down Orson Welles because he never lived up to Citizen Kane? None of these excuses fly, it's just thin cover for personality disorders and chronic trolling.

The way I heard it, Lucas briefly considered it, but ultimately decided not to out of respect for Oz's work.
In a weird way I actually miss the PhantomMenace puppet. The redesign wasn't great but there's still something about seeing a puppet there (being controlled by Oz, natch) which connects with me in a way that the CG replacement doesn't, it looks out of place somehow. (It doesn't help that the Blu-ray has that plasticky DNR vibe to it, the whole thing looks off.) Even weirder, I don't mind the CG version in the next two movies because that's how they've always been, and the Sith version in particular looks excellent.
I still have mine purchased when it was originally released. It's in better shape than I thought having just looked at it recently. Always loved that cover!
Wasn't the re-designed puppet for TPM only made because they didn't have the funds, time and/or technology to pull off Yoda in CGI? I remember hearing that a lot.

They didn't want to do everything with CG, so they had some Muppets made up.

I feel the exact opposite. I thought the new yoda puppet looked weird and out of place. I was immediately unhappy with it when I first saw TPM. It looked like a bad knock off of the original. It's the one post release change that I actually liked that George made. CGI yoda works better for me there because he's the same for the next 2 films and helps bring it together. He also animates better and is more expressive. That being said, I still prefer ESB and ROTJ yoda over both of the others. It's amazing how lifelike he seems sometimes.
I understand that rationale but it's the execution of it that also throws me off, he looks like he's been pasted in over the top. Yes, I KNOW that's exactly what they've done but it lacks the finesse of a proper feature film finish, much like the additional pod race footage which they completed for the DVD edition and is virtually SD quality at times. Factor in the DNR and I'm not much of a fan of the Blu-ray edition in general. I'd love to get an unmolested version of the theatrical edition. That's something you don't hear often in a Star Wars thread!
