Too bad that the Star Wars Universe doesn't use ship-to-ship missiles instead of particle beams, because if you ever imagine the Itano Circus that could then be animated for it... let's just say the Death Star trench run would be more visually-interesting...

If Lucas was still in charge he'd probably add it for the 40th anniversary.

I never knew there was an actual term to describe that missile effect though. "You learn something new..." etc etc.

So about the rumored 4K releases...wasn't Lucasfilm already converting them to 4K for their 3D renderings (before Disney acquired them)?

So, it's likely we won't be getting the UOT.

If they were doing 4K versions for 3D though, wouldn't that mean they would have had to at least go back to the 1997 versions? The 2004 DVD versions onward are locked as digital 2K files I believe.

That would be my understanding. I wonder if they would have used the IP, or went back to the original negative? They would have to re-insert/re-create the CGI changes done on the 2004 and 2011 discs.

Interesting questions...I still think we're getting Star Wars in 4K this year, just not sure what versions. They are likely using whatever Lucasfilm was using, to convert the original trilogy into 3D, but maybe it'll be a compilation

Agreed, I think something new is coming in terms of the OT. It's too big of an opportunity. I also think they will see limited theater runs.

Really hoping that happens. Especially if it's some sort of remastered version of the unaltered trilogy that they play.

Eh, even if the originals do get released on blu ray, something tells me that the current special edition versions will still be the ones that always receive TV airplay and theater re releases, just like with the director's cut of Close Encounters.

It's crazy - I dont even remember the original Jabba the Hutt song Lapti Nek after just watching it now on Youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV0L...ature=youtu.be

I do like the replacement song itself and the sexy Jabba singer girls but I just dont like how he added a new character and made the singing alien all cgi-ish which doesnt fit. But still, I want the unaltered OT on Blu-ray.

I could see that.

It also wouldn't surprise me that Disney would release the UOT as limited editions as they've done so often before.

Prequel Trilogy
Original Theatrical Trilogy
Special Edition Trilogy
New Trilogy (doesn't reference the prequels but doesn't retcon them out either for those who enjoy them. Also can be based off both the UOT and the new versions.)

Then they can do the stand alone films but make them where you don't really need to have them connect with the other three trilogies.

That would be perfect in my mind.

If that happens to be the case, I'll attend all three.

Which is why I'll be buying two copies if it actually happens.

Isn't that the song that's always played?

Oh wait, that's what I get for only watching the 2006 Limited Edition DVD's, lol.
