The price is ridiculous, but there will those who must have all of those extra features so I can see the fanatics bucking up for it. On the positive side, maybe this means any future Star Wars bd trilogy/saga release will come with a digital code (that you can sell ).

Do you think so? Didn't avatar only make money because it was james Cameron, who had an impeccable record until the first film, and that it was the first proper 3D film. Saw it once, never want to see it again. Surely that will be reflected in box office numbers for 2, people must have been woken up by now. It's too long for the sequel. Star Wars will surely rinse it at the box office.

Another release of A New Hope in a new format and I bet Luke's lightsaber is still white/blue/white/green when training in the Falcon.

There is no way people are going to be interested in a sequel. The technology was innovative, now it's not. No reason to expect any kind of huge box-office turn out.

Star Wars, on the other hand, is returning with the classic cast after over 30 years. It's going to be HUGE.

If Avatar 2 only makes half of what the first one made then it will still be the third biggest movie of all time. The Force Awakens will make over a billion but it is not going to beat Avatar 2. There was a decade between Return Of The King and An Unexpected Journey and the difference in box office take is minimal.

I see the box office as Star Wars>Avengers>Minions>Avatar 2

Wait, what? Haven't you been saying for years that you don't like the theatrical cuts?

Avatar 2 will be huge worldwide, but domestically it'll probably do Hobbit numbers unless it really does bring something new to the table tech wise.

Apparently Cameron is shooting 3 Avatar sequels back-to-back(shudders)

I just hope that the original theatrical versions of the first trilogy eventually find their way to blu-ray.

There's a lot that Fox has that Disney would like...like getting the X-Men and the Fantastic Four rights back in Marvel's hands. Question is, other than enormous piles of money, what does Disney have that Fox would want...

That's all the film business is about... Give Fox enough money and they give it all up.

There was a rumor going around that a financial deal was already in place for the Marvel properties for around 1.5 billion, that was going to be sync with the eventual tanking of Fantastic Four... Yes, Fox already knows they're screwed on this film. (With Sony's deal with Marvel, this has fallen apart by now...)

But this is or was about Star Wars, so continue running around in circles.

New quote from Kathleen Kennedy:

“We’re thrilled that fans will be able to enjoy the Star Wars Saga on their digital devices wherever they go. These films broke new ground in technology, design, sound, and visual effects, and we’ve created some very special bonus material which delves into the Saga’s rich history, including new and never-before-released conversations between legendary Star Wars artists – the masters who helped George [Lucas] bring his iconic universe to life.”

She is NEVER going to release the UOT while he is alive. NEVER.
