Maybe you left it out sometime and your cat got a good swipe at it before scurrying off. It's totally possible, you know.
I've watched each of the movies at least twice and the supplemental discs once, so far, so good.

That's the exact reason why I went and bought the region-free UK release for the Indiana Jones set. The 1st UK pressing used a fold-out digipak with proper hubs, while the current pressing (which I own) uses a 5-disc "brick" case with standard flaps.

Honestly, I really don't trust anything but proper plastic hubs for my BDs despite the scratch protection inherent to the format. That's why the only 100% paper-based BD releases I own are the Avatar 3-disc extended edtion (whose corresponding UK/European bonus discs are Region B+C locked, thus infeasible to own) and the digibook for Tora Tora Tora (which I don't care much about anyways).

-dark disciple by Christie Golden If you like clone wars then this ones great since its basically written for season 6 or season 7 arc before the show got cancelled. It shows how damaging this war was to the jedi's principles.

-Darth plagueis
-Dark lord rise of darth vader by james luceno is an interesting read of anakin transitioning to vader after his injurys.

dark nest by troy denning I cant really remember how I feel about this trilogy but I do remember enjoying at least parts of it. Its a mixed bag but I would give it at least a neutral rating because it has a interesting plot.

For a younger reader i would recommend legacy of the jedi by jude watson. Its really a enjoyable story which follows the previous generation of dooku his friend and a few other jedi but it does well in showing the corruption in the jedi order that leads to dooku's going to the dark side. Its reading level would be rather low for an adult but I have fond memories of reading it when I was younger.

The only books I really disliked are the ones from the new jedi order era on. The books from this timeline are just harder to get into and enjoy which is why even dark nest I cant whole heartily endorse.
I just read a synopsis of the Darth Bane trilogy books. Is the entire story basically just about Darth Bane? Seems strange to have a series of books where the main character is evil.

If you enjoy x wing fighter stories then theirs a whole series of x wing stories.

If you want a empire story with empire comanders fighting rebels then you have the thrawn stories including the thrawn trilogy, star wars lost stars and im sure their are others

If you want to see luke doing what he should have done in last jedi building his temple and dealing with padawans falling to the dark side etc then the jedi academy trilogy is basically perfect
Thanks. Sounds like I'll probably like The Jedi Academy Trilogy. I'm more interested in the main characters, Jedi vs. Sith, the Force, etc.

They are focused almost entirely on Bane, as well as his first apprentice (Zannah), and on how the Sith were nearly wiped out a thousand years prior to the movies (setting up the situation where we see Palpatine/Sidious a millennium later). Great stuff, actually, and the trilogy is written by Drew Karpyshyn, who wrote the first Knights of the Republic video game, as well as the first two Mass Effect games for BioWare.

I thought this was interesting. Seems like Lucas understood pacing better back then.

Quote:
Marica also lobbied for the retention of the Jabba the Hutt scene and is quoted as saying":
"Jabba was a big debatable item. George had never liked the scene Jabba was in because he felt that the casting was never strong enough. There was an element, however, that I liked a lot because of the way George had filmed it. Jabba was seen in a long shot and he was yelling, while in the foreground, in a big close-up, Han's body wiped into the left corner of the frame and his hand was on a gun and he said, 'I've been waiting for you, Jabba.' Then we cut to Han's face and Jabba turned around. I thought it was a very verile moment for Han's character; it made him a real macho guy, and Harrison's performance was very good. I lobbied to keep the scene. But Jabba was not terrific, and Jabba's men, who all looked like Greedo, were made of molded green plastic. George thought they looked pretty phony, so he had two reasons for wanting to cut the scene: the appearance of Jabba's men and the pacing of the movie. You have to pick up the pacing in an action movie like Star Wars, so ultimately, the scene wasn't necessary."

If I'm not mistaken, that quote comes from the original 1983 The Making of Return of the Jedi book - not the Rinzler version - both are great reads.

Not really. A New Hope is very poorly paced. The Empire Strikes Back is even more sloppy when it comes to pacing. And the finale of Return of the Jedi starts about halfway through the movie!

I don't think any of the Star Wars films are paced particularly well, to be honest.

Ehh... I’m fine with the pacing. Maybe the first act of ROTJ could’ve been shorter, but I’m fine with it since it’s entertaining. I don’t see anything wrong with the first two films, though.

Oh, no, I'm not saying I think there's anything wrong with them. And especially since I watch them more on my home cinema system than at the flicks, I don't care too much about pacing. I'm just saying that, conventionally, the're poorly paced. All six of them.

I've never been much of a reader of the star wars expanded universe stuff but I decided to check out the Darth Bane trilogy; holy cow I was blown away by it, just fantastic stuff. I REALLY wish we could get movies based on those books, even if it were just a movie on book one by itself. Such a good story with an interesting character (all of which I find to be missing in the new movies).

In fact, gonna have to read them again soon.

I really liked that scene, but I understand why it was cut since it takes away the impact of Jabba's Boogeyman prescence.

It took a lot of heat back in the day because it wasn't as good as the Thrawn trilogy. KJA isn't as good a writer. And I'm pretty sure he stole one sequence from a Legend of Zelda video game. But it does have its moments.

Parts of the first two books adapt the story from the earlier Jedi vs. Sith comic books. When the story gets to Ruusan in the first book, that's when the comic's story is being covered. The prologue of the second book is also from the comic, even though the ending of the first book is where the comic ends.

Agreed, and I actually consider KJA's Tales of the Jedi: Redemption comic book series to be one of the maybe five or so greatest Star Wars stories ever written, filmed or otherwise -- that miniseries is absolutely magnificent; a tight, stripped-down character study, with some real gut-punching poignancy to it, and it's definitely the best thing he's ever written.

Do those Darth Bane books have any protagonists or is it all about Bane? It sounds intriguing but also depressing if the entire storyline is about him becoming more and more evil.

There are a couple of sympathetic non-Sith characters that we spend a considerable amount of time following in the second and third books respectively, but I think Bane and/or his apprentice would have to be considered the de facto 'protagonists' here despite being villains in the Sith sense.
