A number of stories surfaced about the release of those when the Trilogy was released on DvD the last time.

StarWars had it's original 1977 release version AS A SPECIAL FEATURE and as the story goes, Lucas (allegedly) must release those as special features because his ex-wife has a stake in their movie releases. However...if he releases them as special features in the vein of "Look at this version..see...this is why I made the others." Then...Legally...he doesn't owe her a penny.

If this was true, ya gotta love that he's a business man AND and S.O.B.

Ways to profit from Lucas forcing consumer to buy lousy prequels:

1. Pay $100 for the 6-movie blu-ray boxset.
2. Put each of the original Star Wars movies on Ebay.
3. Watch each original Star Wars movie fetch more than $50 on Ebay.
4. Sell remaining prequels for any price on Ebay.
5. Repeat until you gained enough profit and until you can just keep the original Star Wars movies on blu-ray.

It would be nice if Blu-ray companies would pay off Lucas to release the non-tampered ones on blu-ray as an extra. This would be a perfect way to convert DVD people to blu-ray.

Nice

Eagerly anticipating this realease

I would like to have each trilogy seperately (I would buy OT day one, but wait for a good sale on the PT), but one six movie set isn't bad. Just hope it doesn't break the bank too much....

I know it is a pipe-dream, but, I too, want to see the unaltered OT included in this set, mostly from nostalgia reasons. Overall, I like the special editions, but it would be fun to revisit the originals in high def We have three versions of Close Encounters, and five verisons of Blade Runner, so why not two versions of the OT? Is it really that much to ask......

Jesus...for the 1977th time the originals don't exist anymore. Why? Because the Lowry restorations for the 2004 DVDs worked from the '97 SE prints. The original film prints are probably beyond restoration by now...remember, it's already been 6 years since the '04 DVDs. '70s film stock doesn't hold up as well as even older film.

I pass on a complete box set. There is just no way I'm paying for the prequel trilogy. I too want the unaltered versions of the original trilogy, I don't care if they are only included as extras even as SD (just as long as they aren't windowboxed). These are the versions I know and love.

Then just dont buy them. Do we have to listen to 500 people crap all over star wars because they dont like the prequel trilogy or the special editions. Go watch your VHS tapes if thats what you want.

Just buy the unaltered versions on dvd, rip em', burn em to some bds. That's probably the closest you'll get to the originals on bd.

@RBlu He has every right to complain about not including the real OT in the box set as you do to slurp up every piece of cinematic slop Lucas passes your way.

I think the reason why some people (like me) dislike these Special edition parts is that you can regonize them too easily and especially when you see it on blu-ray. Digital effects were not so developped at that time when special editions were made. In today´s standards those parts look terrible. Also changing evok song was bitter thing and there´s so loose connection to younger movies that changing Anakin was not neccesary at all.
What's an evok? I've heard of Ewoks, but never an evok. I ask, because one time is a typo, a second...misguided.

Yes, it's the Star Wars nerd in me, but so what?

He not type good English no!? Many typo. He like use many emoticon.

Seriously though, I can't tell what you're trying to say by using those characters. You waste more time using those than you do actually typing.

I would hope it's TrueHD. Lucas, Dolby & Skywalker came up with EX for Phantom Menace and the first film was the first wide rollout of both 35MM and 70MM Dolby Stereo.

Plus no pops, bombs, or sync issues.

I'm sure the originals have been well kept in a vault at Skywalker Ranch somewhere, they are not beyond restoration. But they may never be able to look as good as the 97 prints.

Even though he's pretty alien looking I don't recall him in the Star Wars films.

As for the SQ, if I recall correctly the Episod IV sounded quite inferior to the two sequels on the box set. Of course it has been a long time and I don't know where my set went

So let me get this straight, we get the three original movies which have been 'improved' and the last three abominations in one box set?

Thanks, but I'll pass.

Wake me up when you come out with the three original 'unaltered' movies on Blu. Until then I'll stick with them on Laserdisc.
