He's not getting me for a super wooper duper Blu-Ray as well. HOWEVER I may buy a bare bones version if offered at a decent price and even then that may be in 2012...

Did Lucas force you purchase the Japanese version, or any version for that matter? If you are happy with this release, why complain/post here?

Also, your price estimation of the Blu-ray box set is completely unrealistic!
It will be reasonably priced, like the DVDs when they came out.

We are going to enjoy the movies the way they were meant to be experienced, in all their breathtaking glory on Blu-ray, in 1080p and mind-blowing lossless 5.1 EX sound! Ahhhhhhh!!! It feels soooooo good already just thinking about it!

Yeah my guess is will be so hot that retailers will be fighting to get sales and day it's released there could be some pretty good deals. My guess is this
will be either $119.99, or $129.99 at most $149.99 but I even doubt that.

If anyone wants an early taste, Spike HD is showing them today. They're currently on ESB, but they will start the trilogy again at 9:58 pm est.

Uhh really all I am stating is that I am not investing heavily further, no complaining here...

Although I was somewhat joking about the price (George Lucas Tax) don't be surprised if it approaches the $200 mark...

Anything that even remotely sounds like you are questioning The Greatness That Is George Lucas is grounds for an assualt by Bluyoda.

The SW DVDs were never priced beyond what other films cost and were more than reasonable. I remember people jockeying to their local ToysRUs when Episode II came out because there it was $9.99 (I price matched at my local Circuit City).

For that matter no LucasFilm product has been premium priced on DVD, and the BD of the last Indiana Jones film was no different. So this "Lucas tax" you speak of doesn't exist. You can blame CBS/FOX and Image for the cost of the LaserDisc editions.

(am I the only one who remembers this stuff???)

Seriously. Anything less than posting with kneepads on while speaking of George Lucas qualifies as "hater talk" to this guy.

As opposed to "not a true fan" if you prefer the Special Editions?

I think putting the unaltered edition on a pedestal is just reminding people you have an AARP discount.

I'm not on that end of the spectrum either, friend. I don't side with apologists, nor do I side with rabid fanboys. I'm a rogue fan. Han "MCT" Solo. Just give me what I want (the unaltered OT), and we can go our seperate ways peacefully.

Thanks for the heads up there AJamal.

I will be able to catch 'A New Hope' in about a half hour.

Considering the fact that I thought I was one of the 1st to have LD in the 80's, and had NO IDEA it came out in the 70's, it's official: Yes, you are literally the only one who remembers that stuff.

I was talking about the LD format, not the SW films on LD, which indeed came out on LD in the late '80s.

First time I saw the Laserdisc player, believe it or not was at Radio Shack sometime in December 1978. Was funny since my dad had just bought a Betamax during the summer. The price when you look at it today seem ordinary but of course when you look back that it was more then 30 years ago those Laserdisc were expensive. I wish I could remember how much my dad payed for the Betamax now. Believe it or not, I still have it 32 years later and it still work's. That thing is indestructible

I am recording all 3 of them on my DVR this evening. They look pretty good in 720p, but 1080 will be sweet!

In regards to the Spike channel, I don't really care to have my kids watch it as some of the commercials are a bit racy.

ANH looks pretty good now, but in only 16:9. Can't hardly watch these in anything but OAR now.

Damn...gotta get me a new TV before these come out. Those damned ghost lines show up quite badly during the Tatooine scenes there. Anybody got a Grand they can lend me?
