No you wouldn't, because t's the original. The truth is GL always wanted that scene in there so Episodes IV and VI connected with one another better.
Actually, Lucas realised the stop motion for Jabba wouldn't work, so he rewrote the Greedo scene to put in the additional dialog taken from the Jabba scene. So, the Jabba scene is redundant because he changed it himself, that's why it isn't needed. Of course, the horrible CG and Han stepping on his tail don't really help either. Plus, I think it's better that we don't get to see Jabba until ROTJ, that he's just spoken about in the other two movies. He's more menacing that way.

Exactly right. You can tell by him 'winking into the camera'. (ugh)

If that were not the case, then where is IG88 and all those other bounty hunters that Vader called up onto the bridge of the Executor????

He pauses briefly and looks around. Kinda hard to wink with a helmet on.

Why have a whole fleet of Star Destroyers after one tiny ship?

Where did you read this, because every thing I've read about the two scenes is that they were always included.

And anyway if the Jabba scene was filmed first, how come Han mentions that he has just encountered Greedo at the start of the conversation?

I actually meant, why is only Boba there with Jabba, and not the other bounty hunters from 'Empire'?

Unfortunately, '15 months' would not be considered the near future.

Well, as you can see in Return of the Jedi, it appears Boba works for Jabba full time (he didn't just dump Solo & move on). You could just as well ask where were the other bounty hunters in Jabba's palace?

Vader sent out a call for Bounty Hunters (not Fett specifically) and since it was on the Millennium Falcon, Fett would trip over himself to get his boss' prime target.

PS: The *fanboys* are the ones pissed at the changes.

Ok, I get what you are saying now.

Well, I do admit that I am a IV and V UOT fanboy, as Star Wars sure has many categories of them.

They're in the Clone Wars series. At least IG-88 (or assassin droids) and Bossk are. It'd be cool to see Dengar, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss eventually.

The Greedo scene was changed/partly reshot during pickup shooting near the end, back in L.A. By then they knew the jabba scene was out and greedo was edited accordingly. That's why Han's line "you think I had a choice?" is now used in the movie twice.

It appears that you just found out, that a 'death mark' is not an easy thing to live with.

Good luck...you are going to need it.

From the making of book by J.W. Rinzler of Star Wars (must-read). Yes, both scenes were always there, but Lucas changed the dialog of the Greedo scene to put in extra dialog from the Jabba scene that had to be cut. So he altered one scene to still give the information to the audience, leaving the second scene basically redundant. That's why it doesn't make sense to include it. It's both redundant and executed poorly.

Oh, I do own the book, but I must have over-looked that part by accident.

The only part that I'm confused about is why Han mentions Greedo in the Jabba scene, where at the start he says "Next time come see me yourself, don't send one of these twerps". If the dialogue in the Greedo scene was altered, then what was the use of that line when they were filming it, before GL realised he couldn't create a stop-motion puppet for Jabba.

In the Greedo scene, I suppose in the original script Jabba did sent him but Greedo just wants money for himself either from Han by keeping silence that he found him or kill him and gets paid by Jabba. Han refused asking to step over his dead body and shot Greedo. Later we'll see the Jabba scene, exactly as we see it now in the SE.

Later in production when Lucas decided to remove the Jabba scene, he re-shot the Greedo scene to add the dialogues from the Jabba scene. It made sense in the theatrical version.

Lucas should re-edit the Greedo scene in the SE to remove the added dialogues, but instead he just made Greedo shoots first and puts the Jabba scene back.

By the way, JW Rinzler's The Making of The Empire Strikes Back will be released in September.
