Lucas usually a Dolby guy, Star Wars was the first to use Dolby Stereo in theaters.
But Lucas used DTD-HD MA for thr THX 1138 blu-ray, maybe he would use it with Star Wars as well. If DTS, it should be ES then, not EX. DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 ES |

Tbh, both are lossless formats, so would there be much difference (if any)? EDIT: What does the EX and ES stand for? |

![]() Myself, as long as it's lossless, I'm good. Only thing I always hope for is 6.1 or 7.1. ES means Extra Surround, can be discrete or matrix. EX means EXtra I think, not sure but it's only matrix, not discrete. Please note that all Onkyo xx5 series can't decode ES/EX in HD audio, me and TheLordoftheRing has verified this. All models after that (xx6, x07, x08) can do it. Not sure about other brands though. Last edited by aiman04; 09-11-2010 at 05:48 AM. |

On DVD, it's a little bit different though, DTS IS 764kbps while Dolby Digital is 224 or 448kbps. Example of Dolby TrueHD 5.1 EX blu-ray is Star Wars: The Clone Wars. While DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 ES are UP, Wall-E, A Bug's Life and Monster's, Inc. |

Star Wars was the first bona-fide blockbuster, the killer app. Trivia: the first Dolby Digital film: Batman Returns, right? Nope. It was Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. BR was the first official release but prints of ST:VI and afterwards Newsies tested the new format. Quote:

Hmm, this mean Lucasfilm had no hand in the technical part of the THX 1138 blu-ray? So this means he only has the creative rights as a director. I thought Lucas bought back the ownership of the movie, like he did with the first Star Wars. This probably true with American Graffiti as well. |

I'm all excited over this upcoming release and I don't care what versions of these movies are included. I would like to see Digital Yoda in all six movies but I'm glad that they're including the Special Edition versions of the movies in this particular release.
Far as the Prequels? I've been wondering about the release on Blu-ray but the good news is that they were actually filmed in digital. I don't care much for the first movie, but the second and third prequel movies were actually quite good. |

So the DTS track is more desirable due to the higher kbps (for dvds)? |

This only concerns DVD where both DTS and Dolby Digital are lossy. As discussed earlier lossless track is a different story. Last edited by aiman04; 09-12-2010 at 06:19 AM. |

Still, the companion/core lossy tracks of TrueHD and DTS-MA run at maximum bitrate and are transparent to the master. TrueHD has more options when it comes to DRC and certain other kinds of setups, like an optimized 5.1 mix in a 7.1 bitstream for those who don't have full 7.1 setups. |

the only i hope they dont do is replace puppet yoda with CGI yoda in TPM. i love puppet yoda! one of the best things about TPM was that out of the 3 films TPM used the least amount of CGI.
out of all the star wars films the only one i probably hate or dislike very much is attack of the clones. cool title, but the movie itself SUCKED! and whos with me that stormtroopers are cooler then clonetroopers? i hate how they are trying to make the clonetroopers so badass in the new show when its the STORMTROOPERS that are supposed to be badass! |

CLONETROOPERS > STORMTROOPERS
EPIII Clonetroopers FTW for that matter! I love the Stormie design; but, Clonetroopers are total bad asses! I know Stormies are supposed to be, but are far from. ![]() |
