You know what would be nice? If they fixed the credits too. It kinda bugs me waching the 2004 DVD of Empire Strikes back and watching the credits, and how they didn't credit Ian McDiarmid as the Emperor, or Temura Morrison as the voice of Boba Fett. I know it's a small thing, but they should definitley fix that.

I just hope when the blu-rays of all the star wars films come out in fall 2011 that all of the errors and bugs from Episode IV A New Hope are fixed such as the missing force fanfare in the death star battle and also the voice tracks in A New Hope are fixed and consistent with the rest of the films. And by the way I am not like some of those fanboys like some on the net that complan about the whole un-alltered vs special edition versions of the classic trilogy and bash Lucas like some of the fans do.
Good to have you here!

I can't wait either! It's just such a long time!

Yeah, but then the purist fanboys would scream again, because the end credits would be running 0,01 sec faster than they're used to!!!!

Blasphemy!! Kill Lucas!

Default SW viewing order

I have been thinking, and I believe the best order to watch the Saga once suggested by a member here is

IV
V
I
II
III
VI

or alternatively you could watch

IV
V
I
II
III
IV
V
VI, but I think the 1. is the best way to experience them with the maximum impact.

What do you guys think?

I like that order. I plan on doing a marathon on Thanksgiving. Probably be my last one on DVD.

Yoda (and Obi-Wan) were both VERY wrong about Anakin and Luke (and Padme) were right. Anakin could have saved alot of pain and suffering all the way around (including his own) if he lets Mace skewer Darth Sidious, though.

How does one side destroying the other bring balance? The Force was brought back into balance at the end of ROTS when there was only two Sith and two Jedi left.

Nah uh. The balance isn't measured by numbers on each side, but how each side behaves in regard to the force, as well as the individual's power. Listen to Mace talk to Yoda in Attack of the Clones (when he suggests they tell the Senate their ability to use the Force is diminished). Think of Jedi like force conservationists and the Sith, who care nothing for balance, like force polluters.

So the Force chooses which side of itself it favors?

It's a rather superficial moment.
Maybe a late reply to this, but I think the scene works great, in which ever edition you watch. Throughout Return of the Jedi, Luke constantly mentions that he believes there is still good in his father, and that he wants to help him reach redemption, and this final scene symbolizes that now Darth Vader, through his final good deed, has reached retribution, and he has become one with the force, as Anakin.

But to stay on topic... I would love to see the Darth Maul/Qui-Gon Gin/Obi-Wan Kenobi fight extended for the 2011 edition of TPM.

Only if every element has the same weight. I'm saying that the DLOS (and his disregard for any balance in his usage of the Force) is a huge individual weight causing the imbalance (since the net 10k Jedi, especially the most powerful/wise/etc try to balance themselves).

How much was cut? Any evidence of significant cuts?

I know the AOTC duel had a few notable things cut that we've seen in various ways (Dooku using two sabers against Yoda, etc), but don't recall seeing such for the Ep1.

The Revenge of the Sith duel was a let down...

On the dvd of The Phantom Menace, on the deleted scene docmentaries page, I think in one of the interview there's a brief scene of deleted footage from the duel, very brief tough.

dunno if it's real or fanmade: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bciftzC-oT0

I wonder what kind of transfers the star wars blu-ray box set will have? Now I am talking about episodes 4-6 the original trilogy (because we all know the prequel trilogy will have good transfers in HD for blu-ray) Will lucasfilm use new transfers for the films in 1080p or will they make new 4K transfers of the films for blu-ray?

If I remember correctly, I believe he had them already converted to 4K back in 2003 when he restored them for the DVDs.

I think so too but I am not really sure. And hopefully this time around for the blu-ray transfers of episodes 4-6 will be color corrected because their are some shots where the lightsabers don't look right and in empire the snow battle sceens have a blue tint to them.

And also, do not forget about fixing the sound that has been botched going all the way back to the last VHS SE release.

Just my opinion, but I don't think how many there are on each side is what's important. That's users of the Force, not the Force itself. The prophecy was that the Force would be brought into balance, not who was using it. It is my honest belief that the Force itself was brought into balance because one man (Anakin/Vader) had both sides flow through him, and was able to go from light to dark and back to light. That is what broght the Force into balance, not that fact that Sith were destroyed.
