Didn't they have earlier models? They show the Star Destroyers at the end of Episode II and I'm pretty sure the early TIE Fighters are there too. The early X-Wings and TIE Fighters are shown in the beginning of Episode III.

What's funny is there sudden change of appearance as soon as Anakin goes into the suit. LOL. The "early" models look way more advanced too.

Don't get me started on the sudden change of appearance of everything at the end of Ep III. The last ten minutes of that movie are terrible, and frankly really could have benefited from an entire extra film solely devoted to them.

Imo, Ep II and III could have been done a whole lot better and wasted a lot less time, solely because of that junk.

Yeah...kind of a major beef with the last ten minutes of RotS.

I feel that the scene with Darth Vader on the bridge at the end of ROTS is not chronologically in sync with the scenes around it. I always took it to be slightly in the future, but George not wanting to make it the last shot of the film had to put it in the middle of the other scenes in the end montage. Of course, an amount of time could have passed between Padme's funeral and the entire end montage. Either way there is definitely an unstated jump forward in time in the last few minutes of ROTS.

That's probably the case. I'm still not a fan because I don't think that's ever how you should shoot a film (not a straight-forward chronological film like Star Wars), but you're probably right.

I like the scene itself, but you are right that scene didn't belong there. Its the only time something like that happens in Star Wars, and I don't fully understand why George put it there. The films never jump around in time, at least not in a way that the audience can realize. It is a scene that should have been at the very end or deleted, but it was too good to delete so George had to chosse the lesser of the two evils and give in and break the mold. I guess we will never know for sure.

Agreed. I love the scene on its own, just despise its placement in the film.

One of the most rushed endings in a movie, surely. I love the scene, but it does look out of place in the PT. Where did Tarken come from? Was he already employed by the Republic? Where did the uniforms for the imperial officers come from? Did Palps have all this OT stuff stashed in his office or what?! So it took them over two decades to build the first death star and just a few for the second?

Too true. They spent like an hour of TPM just building up a pod race. Way too much time devoted to something that won't even matter at all in the overall plot, imo.

I just wish they went in a different direction with Anakin's character. Ben never mentions him being an excessively emotional n00b with psychotic tendencies and a love for mass murder even before joining the Sith. I always figured he was just a normal person before he became Vader...

I think now with The Clone Wars series they've introduced bridge officers etc to fill the gap. The RotS scene does seem like a spacial and temporal shift of the extreme. It would have been nice to spend some time there! I' ve always thought the Empire and Darth Vader should have been introduced earlier maybe at the end of Episode II causing the Jedi to go on the run for Episode III. RotS should have ended with a fight between Obi and Vader (not Anakin) at Mustafar where Obi beats Vader and he falls into the lava.

Yes they were an in-joke. They're only a few pixels in size so they're a good find as well. In Episode III when the ship explodes in the beginning a kitchen sink is part of the explosion. GL has a selective sense of humour lol. Unlike us fans who don't find anything funny....

What is funny is how serious some fan take Star Wars and the guy who is making billions out of it is just having fun with it. Make's you wonder of the priorities of certain fans in the world of scifi

Yeah, most sci-fi type movies do these sorts of Easter Eggs.

Like the R2-D2 toy stuck to the underside of the Close Encounters Mothership. Or in the Star Trek reboot.

It wasn't George Lucas, it was ILM that put the jokes in.

Well, technically he did fight Vader since Palpatine gave him his new name by then. But I know what you mean. "In-suit" Vader would've been cool.

From the interviews and commentaries I've heard, it never sounded like Lucas was having fun with anything. Not that it's problematic; he was grumpy and still made some of the best scifi the world will ever know.

I'm with you guys. It seems to me there's a lot more that could've been done, but it was all bogged down by the forced political stuff. The beauty to me of IV, V, and VI is their simplicity -- really boils down to a core group of people. I, II, and III have a lot going on, maybe too much for 3 movies, and the actors seem distant.

Agreed! Although, from the docs, it is clear that he had alot more fun with making the PT. Probably due to the PT being limitless as where the OT is so confined and focused on the same group of people where, after a while, you're just like...eh.

I watched the documentary Star Wars Begins on YouTube and I almost spat my tea over the monitor when I saw Harrison Ford smoking in the Falcon. Talk about Health & Safety violations! All that wood from the sets would have gone up in seconds.... The Empire couldn't take the Millennium Falcon out but a pack of smokes could. Talk about a Lucky Strike....
