well after research GL says that there a lot of skywalker's in the universe, just like theres a lot of Smiths or Jones. On the other hand though, if you look at the expanded univers Luke faced and beat Vader in a lightsaber duel where Luke severed Vaders arm, This was done by the aid of the ghost of Obi Wan. Luke was looking for a crystal that has something to do with the force(the name escapes me right now!) on Yavin. So Vader would suspect something and when we come to Empire thats one of the reasons why Vader is looking for Luke? There are so many inconsistencies and tbh i am not sure what to make of the "in between" events of the movies. Take Clone Wars, its going on for so long and the thought of Anakin having an apprentice so early also puzzles me! your thoughts would be appreciated. |

The expanded universe has several good ideas but an aweful lot of bad ideas (personally I don't think generic, muscular square jawed heroes, huge Gears of War style space marines/clonetroopers or Matrix like Sith have a place in the Star Wars universe - they just serve to water down the uniqueness of the Star Wars universe). It's also so much more inconsistant than anything in the movies so I wouldn't look to it for answers. Lucas and Filoni have gone to great lengths to keep the heroes physically regular joes and vulnerable while keeping the overall filming style kind of 'oldskool' so it has kept the integrity of the movies. The Clone Wars series is still going and given the recent episodes dealing with the force, bringing in OT elements (Chewie, Tarkin) and touching on Asoka's future, I'm confident it will deal with any apparent plotholes soon enough. I saw a workprint once. It was an unfinished, in-process piece of work. Not something that was released to theaters, hoping that one day the technology would exist in order to complete the effects. As a matter of fact, it didn't get released to theaters until after all the effects were completed, with whatever technology available at the time. Workprint = incomplete. The original Star Wars movies had their effects completed, and they were released to theaters. Therefore, the Original Star Wars =/= workprint. If it's true that Lucas calls them classic now, instead of workprints, then I'm happy for that. Now, if we could actually get those classics restored and on blu, then at least half of us would be super happy!
As for extended, director's cuts, whatever, released after Award nominations... I can't think of one instance where said extended edition, etc. was the version nominated. As far as I recall, it's the theatrical version that is nominated. |

They say films are abandoned and not finished and Star Wars is one of these but it doesn't deter from the fact that the original theatrical versions are important parts of our culture and should be preserved for prosperity of the people who experienced it and now wish to do so. George Lucas should continue with his tinkering as he sees fit but he should feel the originals are every bit as important. |

See, Lucas should use them as a marketing ploy. Bring the originals up to BluRay standards and include them in the all-encompassing set. I'd swallow the bitter pill of the prequels if I had to get them to get at the unaltered classic trilogy in high def. As it is now, I'm just buying the three-disk classic trilogy. |

Besides, they'd have to put at least 3 more discs in the set to put the original versions on there. Since they can't be seamless branched. Also, Lucas would have to spend a whole lot of money restoring and remastering those versions to bring them up to par for Blu-Ray. And why should he ignore his artistic desires and throw money at releaseing versions of the films that he finds inferior. Just silly. |

Let me start by saying that I prefer the special editions of the movies. But the point some are trying to make is they want the unaltered trilogy in hi-def, not non-anamorphic low quality versions. They want to see them with great picture quality but without the changes.

Not really, it's just as doable as any other movie. Look into it and try to at least be accurate if you're determined to thwart your loneliness with this same rap for the rest of the year.

Just realised; September will most likely also see season 4 of Clone Wars being aired!
It'll be an even greater month! Given the OT details coming into season 3, makes me wonder if season 4 might not have a greater connection (other than marketing) to the OT? More connections to Ep III is a given. Rex |
