The Phantom Menace, for me, is a bit of a cartoon.

You have a final battle scene between a race so incompetent that they promoted their village idiot as a general against an army of incompetent battle droids, that can be cut like cheese, sent by an organization of incompetent and whiny aliens, on par with some of the incompetent and whiny cartoon characters of the late 80's/early 90's.

Attack of the Clones, to me, is more like Twilight, with it's bland, unbelievable romance. Perhaps Lucas doesn't know much about women, or his audience even less, but I seriously doubt Anakin would be getting laid after whining so much. He actually almost starts to cry when she is packing her luggage. Which begs me to wonder, was the Jedi Mind Trick his most effective flirting technique?

LOL Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker does have some similarities to Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen, good call.

Statistically, girls have never been into star wars in great numbers, episode 2 pandered to them hilariously and it didn't work. But when you see the potential
bucks involved if you can land the girl audience, I guess it was worth a try. I though it was interesting that the most recent HD version shown in the UK reverted back to the theatrical cut, that doesn't have Padme saying "it's normal to kill kids when you're angry" or whatever it was after the confession/comedy gold.

So literal! found it- it's "To be angry is to be human", which is on the dvd but wasn't in the theatrical cut.

Yup, Padme must really hate Sand People too. She didn't even seem to care at all that the guy she's romantically linked to just killed kids.

My wife is a die hard romance fan, but she despises stupid contrived stories like, well, Twilight and Attack of the Clones as previously mentioned in this thread. The Han and Leia story was so much better it's not even funny. At least they acted like humans.

Dunno. I thought the Luke & Leia romance was hella awkward.

Yeah clearly the Jedi training didn't include teaching him how to talk to the ladies. Basically 90 percent of the dialogue in episode 2 is laugh out loud funny. At points i think George Lucas is such a genius that he actually wrote it that bad on purpose.

Good call on episode 1; I've never thought quite that far into it. I guess me seeing it as a 14 year old helped me enjoy it more. I was just amazed to see the immense amount of detail put into the Star Wars universe for the first time. I do remember my friend and I in middle school trash-talking Jar Jar Binks as the worst Star Wars character in the universe ever, and that was 8th graders talking.

I think the humor for episode 2 really kicks off with Obi Wan's horribly bad chuckle in the elevator. From that point on, it's a laugh riot.

I've been told (don't know how much truth there is to it) that the sand people are almost identical to humans underneath their outfits. So, basically, Padme told Anakin that slaughtering short people, some of them children, is being human.

What's up with that bullseye on the bottom of Padme's shirt/dress on Tatooine?

Maybe Anakin just needed a little help figuring out what to do with a woman once done seducing her with his wiles.

No, the balls are reserved for the Worshiping Extremists who say that they will never buy the movies again unless the UOT is included. Yet, we all know that they will be first in line to get it...day 1. Why? Because Lucas has them by the balls! For someone like me and others who are also into high end collecting, the correct term is GL has us by the wallet.

What, did you take jackhole lessons or were you just born that way? BTW, have fun standing in line day one of the saga BD release.

Nope, the wallet. Easy to get into when the company that makes these make an excellent product. Anyone who has owned or owns Sideshow product knows. I gladly buy what I like from them, not ***** about their product endlessly, yet still plunk down $$$ for it. That my friend is the difference.

I can't imagine that episode III really needed a PG-13, kids see much worse stuff on tv. (you're misquoting Roger Ebert, by the way. He was quoting someone else)

I think that maybe part of the rating could be the psychological effect of seeing all the good guys taken out, plus Anakin turned into nice crispy bacon.

My home theater, seeing as I live in an old nasty base house, is all about performance over looks. When I move to a more permanent location, I'll do some serious decorating.

For now, though, moving around to different Air Force bases every few years, I'll keep it to the bare minimum. And he does have you by the balls. Don't try and justify your obsession by splitting hairs. I'd rather spend tons of money on getting my kids through college than owning set pieces. I guess it's the grownup in me.

The stuff you speak of, like, say, Fringe, is usually rated accordingly. I won't dare let my kids near the television when I'm watching Fringe because you never know when they're going to show a corpse with the insides hanging out. Oh wait, yes you do! You just have to check the rating! If it's TV14 or higher, it's on the parent if their kid sees some scarring image of graphic violence.

Anyways, I 100 percent disagree with you. Revenge of the Sith is a perfect example of why some movies shouldn't be seen by kids until they reach 13.
