The Superman thread and the Star Wars thread are full of nerdy nonsense???

Oh well, back to the D&D forums, I guess...

I think the OP or a mod edits the first post of this thread with news as well so it might be a good place to look for the latest on the release.

I'd like to know why the Jedi aren't allowed to marry or be with people. I mean, it just begs to be made into a romance novel (forbidden love in an exotic land during a tumultuous period) but aside from that.. I dunno. I guess that was changed when Luke re-founded the Jedi Order? He supposedly had a wife and Leia married Han in the books.

A week or two ago I noticed that the thread title had been changed to reflect the 27th and I went to starwars.com and I couldn't find anything more specific than "September".
Okay, fine. IF you are right about the street-date not being definite, then this means that we know EVEN LESS about this release than what I suggested in my last post, which once again raises the question, how are we supposed to discuss news that doesn't exist/hasn't been announced yet?

I'm sure once more news with some substance to it is revealed, the conversations in the thread will shift over to that. Feel free to come back at that time. But don't expect people (now) to discuss information that they don't have.

I think that was one of the biggest flaws with the Jedi, all they really had was the order and their over-sized light toys, other than that they had nothing in life. Luke got it right, probably figured it out sometime before his father tossed the Emperor into the Death Star reactor.

If I was a fan of the D&D movie and I had to wade through a bunch of posts about people talking about charisma points and how many sides their dices have to find information on the Blu-ray disc I'd be annoyed too.

There are no Star Wars blu-ray discs.

The only things we know for sure now is the release date, number of discs per set, and that there will deleted scenes from the OT, such as Luke's Lightsaber Construction from RotJ, included on the release. There, now you know as much as we do. Back to the fun.

Annoyed? Remember some people have to live with us as well. Think how annoying we're going to be when the sets get released.

Yeah... I made my wife watch Episode III last night. She absolutely despises Star Wars.

Well, she pretty much hates all science fiction and fantasy.

In other news, I'm watching the Clone Wars TV series for the first time today and I really like it. I might have to own it on Blu.

Fortunately for you and others like you (i.e., those who use the word "nerdy"), any important info will be added to the first post once it's released. Then you can leave us nerds to play with our nerdy nonsense.

Yes. I wonder if we'll be able to pick the set up with one or two hands? What do you think George will recommend? Perhaps we should imply a sense of weight to the boxset when watching the OT but feel free to swing away one-handed with the PT .

Man, I'm lucky. My wife isn't a huge sci-fi fan, but she does really like alot of it. She is more of a LOTR fan than anything though, but that is because of Astin. She is very supportive with my collecting and the events I contribute to around the area. Every now and then, she'll even spout out a quote. It's pretty cool.

As for The Clone Wars, enjoy. They are great shows. Especially Season 2.

As of now, I live by myself. If that is still the case then,
I plan to request several days off from work,
get lots of adult beverages, snacks, and party favors,
crank up my 7.2 system a little too much,
and go freakin Ubernerd-Megatard with these bad boys!

Clearly relations turn you into a Sith!!, isn't it obvious.

However....
Jedi of the Old Republic were forbidden to hold strong attachments, as they were believed to lead to the emotions of the dark side. For this reason, Jedi were not allowed to marry, though they were not required to be chaste. At least one special case was recorded in this arrangement: the Jedi Ki-Adi-Mundi who, due to low Cerean birth-rates, was permitted to have a polygamous marriage, and fathered seven daughters. Although some have been known to leave the Order such as Jolee Bindo

In theory, it's a good idea. In practice...

If you are referring to Anakin and Padme, I would think that having secrets, and having to be sneaky is more the problem. If it was acceptable for them to be together, I don't think it would have turned out the way it did. The secrecy and sneaking around is what gave Palpatine leverage over Anakin.

For those who dare fall in love: Jedi go to the Dark Side. Senators lose the will to live!

What a cruel system! I'm glad the Empire took over.

No, but seriously, how does having a loved one lead to the Dark Side? I assume the Jedi, in a sense, loved one another and had close friendships but I fail to see how ignoring the fact that losing a friend would be painful is avoiding the Dark Side.
