That's just a way to explain something after the fact. It was already stated that GL did it to ensure a PG rather than G rating. Even for those who buy the physiology excuse, it still looks fake as can be.

Well, of course it explains something after the fact.

Unless you believe there really was an Aqualish Alien who submitted to have his arm lopped off for the movie.

And it doesn't look any faker than anything else in the movies. It's not reality after all.

Wife and I just finished ROTJ.

The ending was kind of messed up for her because of Hayden's appearance. "How is he in here if this was made a long time ago?" LOL

I remember the strong feeling of happiness I felt when I saw Anakin at the end, taking his place among Ben and Yoda and beaming at his son with pride. I don't completely blame Hayden's appearance for the scene not being as good as it used to be but a lot of it can laid on Lucas's decision to use a piece of leftover footage he had. I don't know if this was because of laziness or the fact he doesn't like working with actors or whatever, but it didn't do justice to one of the most powerful scenes in the saga.

I don't want to say anything that will get me in trouble, but there is... uh... decent DVD's of the originals one might acquire somewhere, if one were to search the internets. Just saying.

I don't mind Hayden being there, but at least put him in the correct damn Jedi outfit that he wore....

Not sure where I read it but I always thought it was a prostetic arm that he cut off. I could be completely off on this, and the alien physiology reacts differently to the lightsaber's blade is as good of an explaination as any. Frankly I dont care, you could pick all six Star Wars movies apart and find things that dont add up. I also love the debate on how people hate the PT cuz the effects look fake and the acting is horrible, makes me wonder if these people who hate the PT have actually seen the OT (or even the UOT!!!) All 6 movies have goofy special effects and pretty bad acting, but thats not gonna stop me from loving them!!!

I think you're thinking of the Tales From The Mos Eisley Cantina book. Where Dr. Evazan gave Ponda a cheap faulty cybernetic arm as a replacement afterwards. And agreed, you can nitpick any movie, not just the Star Wars films, to death. It's just that no other film earns this much obsessive scrutiny.

My personal fave version is the one in Robot Chicken. Now everytime I watch that scene, I picture Ponda completely innocent as Evazan's crazy behindus works to get him in trouble! Absolute hilarity!

Years ago, in the "Super Return of the Jedi" game for the Super Nintendo, you would play as a different character specific to the level that you were on (including, if I recall correctly, Luke, Leia, Han, Chewy, and Wicket the Ewok).

But, there was a code that would allow you to use any of the playable characters in any level as you choose. And who was the strongest against the Emperor and could defeat him with the fewest hits? Wicket the Ewok!!!

(I know this isn't canon by any means, but it's just funny).
I remember doing that a lot Wicket made the Emperor a joke in that game
