Makes sense to delay that story until their May/June issue. May is a big convention month and news on the release is better served coming from those than a 'promotional rag' like the Insider. You'll hit more media and 'relaxed' fans through conventions that you would with something so 'target audience' specific as the Insider.

Besides, what good would it be to announce any details through that magazine anyway? That audience probably already preordered (not going to sell any new copies that way) or will complain that something is missing. Good move to delay a bit.

I have no idea and don't really care what issue it is. I don't subscribe to it anymore (thought it was basically useless). I was referring to the issue that will be sent out to mailboxes and stores in June which I guess would be the July/August issue for whatever reason. Never really understood that. If its the July issue, send it out in fn July...

Magazines have always been dated the date of the following issue because it's meant to stay on the newsstands until that next issue comes out.

You're using the conventions of current western culture and health. I was watching the 1943 "Heaven Can Wait" the other night and there's a scene where Don Ameche's character is at the end of his life at age 60. By our current standards, he looks about 80. Go to war-torn third world countries (which some of the Star Wars universe is the equivalent of) and you'll see people who look old at 40.

In 1900, life expectancy for a male in the U.S. was 46.3 years. In 1932, it was 61 (which, by the way, is why you can't collect Social Security until you're 65 - it was set up with the expectation that few would ever actually collect.) In 1950, it was 65.6, in 1975 it was 68.8, and in 2000 it was 77.1. Who is to say what it would be in the Star Wars universe?

Now the argument can be made that the Star Wars universe is highly technological and therefore, people should be in good health and live long, but we really don't have enough information to evaluate that, other than they seem to be pretty good with artificial limbs. After all, Padame dies in childbirth in spite of the technology. Did Anakin give her a stroke?

Furthermore, we don't know what a day means in the Star Wars universe. Maybe a day is the equivalent of our 72 hours. And while the main characters are humanoid, we really don't know if they age the same or differently than we do. After all, Anakin seems about 8 years old at most at the end of Episode I and he seems far older than 18 (at least 22-23) at the beginning of Episode II, which is supposed to take place 10 years later.

Box set is excellent idea to rob money from younger generation, who doesn´t regonize quality difference between fist three and last three movies!!
The idea of re-editing and partly re-making original Star Wars trilogy for special edition was TERRIBLE MISTAKE. Maybe one of biggest mistakes in movie history. Thank god, Spielberg released (with good transfer) original version of E.T. on dvd, not only "re-made horror edition". So, I think Steven is nicer guy than George... Hopefully we´ll see ORIGINAL version of E.T. on blu-ray soon too!!
There´s no any point to fix over 20 years old movie. Just make good transfer AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY!!
This is good subject for a poll: Who really want´s Special Editions on blu-ray? Except George...
I think it really makes sense not to like Special Editions, because those movies are NOT piece of movie history, only pieces of it!
I am going to have to agree with this posters sentiment, although without the anger. Many are criticizing this post but the additions made by Lucas are hated by many Star Wars fans. What would be the harm in giving us unaltered films? Lucas says that he is intent on erasing the original versions from peoples memories and unfortunately I think he will eventually succeed.

Price point for these i am thinking between $120-$150. ( I am holding out hope for a steelbook set myself)

Now as far as people only wanting the original trilogy. I would expect to wait until 2012 at the very earliest.

For people wanting the unaltered original trilogy. I would not hold my breath. You know what...go ahead...hold your breath....then I won't have to read your rants.
The same attitude shared by George Lucas! Don't quite understand the hostility against those of us who would like to see unaltered versions. I don't think it will happen but is it that horrible that we want to preserve a few happy moments from our childhoods without being wished death!

If you only want to bicker, turn off your computers.

If you want to discuss the Clone Wars, do it in their respective threads.

It's been confirmed to be the next issue.

I'm assuming we'll have all the details by the time the issue is released anyway. Star Wars Insider never has a scoop...ever.

What a makeover! Kind of gives you a glimpse into what could've been had the originals been made with today's tech. Not that they're any less awesome, but wow!

I think that if todays technology was available the original films would have suffered greatly. Lucas would have done exactly what he did on the Prequel films, focused on the effects rather than story and character. What made Star Wars great was what they did with the technology that was afforded to them. Lucas also created memorable characters and an awesome story.

"Hokey special effects and a huge budget are no match for a good story and characters at your side kid."

I clearly agree with you.

I'd love to see some sort of deleted scene showing the AT-ATs landing on the planet though. I can't help but think that if Lucas had done that in the prequels ('that' being not showing how the walkers make planetfall) then that'd be cited as yet another example of how damnably incompetent he is as a filmmaker. But it's in one of the Holy Trilogy so hey! That's fine!

I clearly agree with you.
Read the making of the OT films.

FX was clearly on his mind all along, the stories would not have changed.

Empire & Jedi are wall to wall FX films.
