I hope that is true that you at least have the 1997 edition choice. No Hayden and no Boba Fett Voice change would be a great thing!

Yeah, 1997 versions are as close as were going to get. No Hayden, no removing eyebrows on Vader, no 'Phantom Menace' Jabba, and no extended-extended scene at the end of ROTJ!

The only thing now is what the picture/colours will look like. Since it has to be a branching feature, the overall look across all 3 films will probably look the same now, and if thats the 2004 changes then i'm not happy.

One thing that was mention by the amazon.com review was that the blu-rays of the ot will have 3 cuts of the special editions 1997 , 2000 and 2003. From what I recall their was only 2 versions of the special editions 1997 and 2003/2004. Where did this 2000 special edition cut come from?

Donīt you understand? You will not get the 1997 version. You will get the 1997 version (they want to avoid the term special edition for good reason) with additional changes! I hope the informatin is correct and it really came from PR at Lucasfilm.

It guess they are talking about the enhanced version of "the Phantom Menace"

Ok...what does that have to do with no Hayden and Kiwi Boba voice? It still sucks but at least we can keep these two trilogies seperated like they should be.

That doesn't make sense since the blu-rays haven't been released yet. Maybe you misread it? The only significance those years have to Star Wars is that each of them mark the 20th anniversary for each film of the OT.

All that will mean is exactly what i've said - that all 3 films will be branched, and the appropriate edits are chosen depending on what 'version' you've chosen. So in the case of the '1997' version, its still going to look different because it'll be sharing the same film as the '2004' version. The only changes throughout each film will be the main CGI edits, such as Jabba etc.

Again! They didnīt use the term "Special Edition" but instead referred to it as the 1997/2004 version of the movies as oposed to the 1977 version. There wonīt be different versions on the discs but one definite version based on the 1997/2004 versions. So what you are getting is the ONE definitive version which evolved out of the 77, 78, 97 and 2004 evolutionary steps for "a new Hope" or "Star Wars" as you know it.

But again, we donīt even know if the info given by an Amazon.com reviewer is legit.

So is thre seemless branching or not? One of you is talking about choices and you are saying the took elements from all the films and made a new film with no choices. Which is it?

NO! Itīs not that hard ...
There will be ONE (just one) version on the discs, no branching, no choosing ...
The version will be the latest and definitive Special Edition.

But then how do you expect all 3 'versions' of the film to be combined into one? It doesn't make sense

Yeah! But I donīt think there will be many more versions now that the saga is complete and the CGI technology is at the level it is today. I really think this will be the final version (not counting 3D, that is. )

The good thing is that you donīt have to worry about versions since there is only one revised, remastered version ported to a new medium at a time. Thatīs how the policy seems to be.

Let me get this straight..so what you are saying is that we are still getting the crappy 2004 version with his new enhancements. Is that what you are saying?

I dont know. I just worry that he is going to continue to tamper with these until they get worse and worse and become so effed up that we wont be able to tell we are watching Star Wars anymore.

Is he really going to replace puppet Yoda with CGI Yoda? There just comes a point where you have to stop.

Donīt attack me for it but what we are getting is one final enhanced version of each movie. For Episode 4 it will basically be the 2004 edition with some more changes or enhancements. I know that is isnīt as good news to as it is to me but donīt tell me expected something else. It is pretty much what everyone expected and I couldnīt be happier about it.

But again, I donīt work at Lucasfilm or something and therefore have the same infos as you all have.

What we'll be getting is the definitive version of all six films in this box set.

What we don't know is how much tinkering Lucas has done from the '04 DVD Box set in terms of color timing and enhanced visual effects.

It's the same for the Prequels. We don't know how much tinkering he's done to those films since their DVD releases.

But whatever he's done, these will be the definitive, final versions.

Since this is the first time he's ever released the films as one saga, there's really no point to him doing anymore tinkering to the films.

In his eyes, I'm willing to bet that this set is definitive, in terms of how the films will presented.

As for the special features, in combination with what we already have on DVD and the special features we're getting on the Blu Rays, I think, in his mind, he doesn't have anymore left to give. This is why I won't be selling my DVDs of the Star Wars films. If I want the (almost) definitive account of the making of the saga through the prism of the Lucasfilm PR department, keeping your existing DVDs is almost a must.
