You made a claim that Lucas doesn't care about his fans. Then explain why he is releasing the films on Blu Ray? and provide a source for your ideology please!

I've met Lucas and He's met with the fans...He listen to what we have to say. Please provide the source.

The Box.

Stars Wars: The Complete Saga (not to mention the two individual trilogy boxes that will also be released simultaneously) comes housed in a handsome package assembled in book form, with every two pages devoted to a painted panel on the left side and a movie or extras disc housed on the right. There is also a nicely painted exterior cover. All the painted works were inspired by iconic Star Wars images from the appropriate movie being represented. The box looks sturdier than a lot of sets where the discs are tightly fitted into awkward sleeves or other bad design configurations. (Remember the annoying Planet Of The Apes Blu-ray box from 2008? Once you removed the discs from the little rubber knobs that held them, you never got them back in because they did not fit right.) We saw no booklet here, but I have been told that a small one will be included. But honestly, when you have more than 40 hours of bonus material, that’s not an important issue.

I'd class the complete set as a Digibook.
So the WB cases that everyone was calling digibooks were around before Fox started doing their "cardboard books"

and now the WB cases ARE NOT digibooks because the discs aren't "on pages"

Call it whatever you please, it's still awful packaging! Would it be so hard to put a plastic disc tray on the pages (or make a digipak) instead of those stupid slots you have to slide the disc in and out of

I'm sure the quality of the transfers is more important than the packaging. The sooner this release is out the better, and for more than one reason....

then why the hell is he wasting his time promoting these things? where do you think he gets the millions of dollars he's spent reshooting scenes for the original trilogy?

what a stupid thing to say...

Fair point, I'm sure he's not a billionaire for nothing. I'm sure Lucas cares about Star Wars, and I don't intend on bashing him for his work.

You might want to double-check this with starwarsprincipal -- I bet he/she might disagree.

That has to be the most uninformed post of the week. And considering the Lord of the Rings thread, that's saying something.

Soooo, Lucas spent months and hundreds of hours of manpower to put a blu-ray set together... for free? Really?

The "studio" is Lucasfilm, owned (oddly enough) by George Lucas. Fox is just the distributor.

Ugh. Seriously? George Lucas owns all the rights to Star Wars. He is going to be the guy who makes the most on the blu ray release. Fox has the 'current rights' to exhibit the movies in retail and theaters. Much like Warner has the rights to the Clone Wars. The Studio makes some money, but most of it is going right to Lucasfilm. You will notice Fox has had very little to say about the Star Wars release.

LOL how uninformed. GL owns all the merchandising rights to the very first movie that I know for a fact as it was unprecedented at the time. Not sure if the studios let him get away with it for all the others tho...

lol. Can't fool you guys. Yeah, ok he gets some money. I'd like to see a profit list when this is released that month. I wonder if you can ask fox for it? And will it show how much goes to the marketing, sales, and Lucas himself. I'm sure he doesn't get 100% of the sales. Perhaps like 20%.

Perhaps you weren't listening. The "studio" is LucasFilm. LucasFilm is George.

Speaking of merchandise, I have just about every figure they released from 1995-2000 still mint on cards and just about every vehicle that came with a figure (as you can tell I only wanted the figures). Had to stop tho as they just started to rehash and get silly. I wonder what all that is worth nowadays...

I get it. I was exaggerating..Lucasfilm doesn't have a bluray manufacturing division. Lucasfilm has to pay the distributor...most of the money goes there...I can't say who gets what. but lucas is NOT doing it for the money...

He's doing it for a passion. it's his hobby.
