Guys, Lucas hasn't fixed the issues because to him they are not issues. He is aware of them, but to him they fit his "original vision" which has changed many times over the years.

It's just sad that a great franchise has been watered down for greed. You look at other big directors who care so much about the movies and about the fans. Lucas does not care about the fans, except that he needs to ensure people continue to buy the products he releases while holding out hope for the original unaltered movies.

Those original/remastered THX 1995 versions will NEVER be released on DVD/blu-ray. What you get is what Lucas wants you to have. Lucas supporters need to wake up.

As for me, I preordered the complete saga a few months ago because there was a 50% off coupon for Barnes and Noble + $10 off Groupon. All in all my cost was $40. Even then I still feel like canceling my preorder becuase I don't want Lucas to have a dime of my money. Or, I can receive the set then sell it to someone for a marginal profit.

It is my genuine belief that these discs may sell well but won't be a smash hit. Blu-ray sales seem to have tempered in the past year or so. There is enough skepticism about additional alterations, cash grabs, future releases, etc. that many fans will probably avoid this altogether.

On a scale of 1 to 10, somewhere around 6.

And people wonder why all respect for this guy has gone among a huge section of the fan base:mad.
Well, I take ONE good thing away from this entire experience of star wars at comic con.... Adywan will have extra scenes from Jedi to work with for his project (winning!). I have to admit, I am really looking forward to THAT version of Empire more than I have been with this blu ray set..

The blu rays do look a lot like the 2004 masters though, and that is shame. I wonder if we will hear "He was too busy trying to get his live action tv series up and going..." as the excuse this time around?

I don't know, but certainly Fox has expectations for profit margins and all that.

It's a qualitative prediction. I don't have the numbers, don't hold me accountable.

Everyone's so uptight around here.

How can he not see this:

Or this:

... as issues? How can this fit his "original vision"? He didn't go out of his way to make the lightsabers in the PT look like they do in that pic from ROTJ. I don't see how he can just leave these as is and not want to do something to correct an obvious error.

These flaws with the OT transfer from 2004 don't bother me at all why it bothers some fans I don't get. at all. It won't stop me from buying the blu-ray box set if it is indeed the case that the flaws are not fixed. If some don't like it then don't buy the set. I had hold'ed out hope for the erorrs from 2004 to be fixed but if their not I can deal with that.

So we are now accepting it as fact that these blu rays are the exact same transfers from the 2004 DVD? How did you guys find out?

I would like to know more about this too. I don't keep up with this thread that much, but would appreciate a refresher.

The shot of Vader and the TIE Fighters has a error on the bottom, the exact same one which apparently also appeared on the DVD's (never saw this error myself luckily :P).

Don't know if there is a chance other problems could have been solved such as the lightsaber colours (since they have to do with colour timing)? I am not technical enough for such questions ?

Of course there should be some patience for actual reviews when we have the set in our own hands though, maybe this error slipped through and a host of other problems did get solved (gotta be optimistic right )

I think this thread has enough material now to publish in a book.

1. A glitch found in the 2004 transfer of A New Hope was found in footage screened at Comic Con.

2. The official Blu Ray site now has screen captures for each film. The Phantom Menace screenshot is clearly from the new transfer. The screenshot for The Empire Strikes Back still has the notorious pink lightsaber. http://www.starwars.com/movies/saga/

3. The initial trailer that debuted a few months ago also looked like it was sporting footage from the new Episode 1 transfer, yet the footage for the OT still had all the glitches found in the 04 master. Given the evidence we have now, it appears the trailer WAS accurate for what to expect in the Blu Rays.

Oh well they already released a concept art book and still movie frames book if I remember correctly, so this could be a nice addition to the Star Wars library. Hopefully it is a Steelbook

If the OT gets the 3D treatment then, and only then will it get remastered. That is probably the only reason why episode 1 got remastered. That means we have to support EP1 in the theater you guys, so he will remaster the OT!

Hey question: was it just me or was the picture on revenge of the sith dvd overly bright? At least brighter than the other DVDs.

I thought that too. However, ever since 2005 we knew they were going to include the digital Yoda, and therefore having a new transfer.

Fortunately, I don't "have to". I will do it gladly, as I love that film.

So I need to see a movie I don't like in a format that doesn't interest me so that ten years from now I might get a decent BD transfer of movies I've already paid for?

I think I'll pass on that.
