Whats The Complete Star Wars Saga (All 6 Episodes with the latest and greatest visual effects and edits)version? Is that the one with the ugly box set cover? What do they mean by greastest visual effects and edits? Why's the difference between this one and the separate trilogy's?

I think the issue over the blu-ray transfers has been blown way over proportion. We just have to wait until September 16th and see what the final product will be as far as the blu-ray box set will look like. You can't base it off of yourtube video and screen captures on the net.

AFAIK, they are also releasing the original trilogy without Lucas' nefarious tinkering and tampering.

The Complete Saga will be all 6 movies with the "best" SFX, each individual trilogy will be just that, an individual trilogy, and then there will be the unmolested original trilogy.

So I should just go with the complete saga for the best pq and SFX?

I thought this had been put to rest many pages ago, the only version of the OT will be a combination of the SE and the 2004 DVD edition

EDIT: The only version being released 16 September 2011 is the SE / 2004 DVD edition

I haven't followed all 871 pages, so I must have missed it while I was doing other things.

The only difference is the complete saga has both trilogies and 3 bonus disc, the seprate trilogies contain no bonus disc, PQ and AQ will be the same. The only decision is do you want 1-3, 4-6, or 1-6.

Report Summary.

I stood in line to enter the Yavin Base recreated war room. There I reserved my copy with Fox Home entertainment and got the lithograph, exclusive to the comic con. the guy wanted to give me a high number, but I insisted in a low number, so got 82 out of 1138.

Inside they had set up like you see in the images. We saw cuts of the final yavin battle. I did not take video as I felt it was rude to the role players. The general and the xwing pilot. You see the arrival of the xwings from the SE. And they look better, you get the entire trench run edited out to make it shorter until Han solo shows up and Luke blows up the death star. You also see many other clips, but only from A New Hope.

It was on a HUGE screen like 70 inches or more. The detail looks very good in blu, but of course this is an old film, its not going to be perfect. Personally, I am happy with any transfer to this blu ray. As you know I don't complain much..I was happy with the DVD's, I will be happy with this set.

The experience was positive and the fans were happy. I complained with some of the Lucasfilm crew about lacking new Audio Commentaries by Harrison, Mark and Carrie.

Mark Hammil is now charging $100 an autograph. lol. I find this kinda ridiculous as I have his autograph FREE from back in the 90s.

Dave Filoni was there and he was cool.

any more questions let me know. thanks.

If by that you mean theatrical editions of IV-VI, I doubt it.
That would be my preferred release but I think we'll have to wait for Lucas to kick the bucket before that ever happens.

I doubt you'll get it even then. There's this little thing they call wills. I'm sure he's got it on record his wishes.

Even if Lucas kicks the bucket i doubt anyone will go against his wishes.
I have a feeling that no one will take his place not even his kids.
Everything will more than likely stay the way that they are.
Once he goes Lucasfilm will disband and all that will be left are his definitive versions.
Once he kicks the bucket sadly there will be no more versions what we'll have is what we'll have.

I like any and all versions that he comes out with the more Star Wars the better.

And to be clear..because I been away for like 3 weeks. I am an original fan and I love the prequels, I love the changes and I am in no way supporting the Lucas bashing that's been going on in this thread for 3 weeks. I have been reading the posts on my android. Saying that, I think Lucas should make all the changes he wants. I've seen the originals UT, about 300 times already, it's good to make the movies fresh and cool for the next generation. If someone didn't see the originals as they were...then you missed out on history, that's your fault, but don't demand that history is brought to you. History cannot be brought back. The OT as it was at the movie theaters is history and it should stay history.
On the transfers, does it matter? Do all of you have 1080? Because I don't. I watch the movies for the content to be honest with you, not the imagery or the packaging. I like the films because of they are the greatest films of all time! not because they are transferred or modified. thats miniscule to me as I am probaly older than most of you. I paid 94 dollars for the complete saga and got this cool litho, heck i'm happy!
