Three sentences in an e-mail and everyone starts blowing sunshine. Compare that response to the overwhelming denial of numerous screenshots and video comparisons exhibiting the same issues from the 2004 dvds (color, glitch, etc.).

Do you expect a supposedly real Lucasfilm employee to say anything less than enthusiastic?

SW fans - hopelessly optimistic.
Yeah, I'm sure that they meant they had made deliberate errors to the lightsaber special effects. They knew we'd enjoy them.

That's your opinion. I don't think that's what they meant.

Well.... aren't you a ball of sunshine. There's 900+ pages of vile negativity in this thread. And when we finally get a couple of pages of hopeful optimism, you can't help but try to crush it.

Regarding your questions; 1. Industrial Light and Magic did go in and make many technical improvements, most notably color matching on select lightsabers shots. 2. The list of extras for discs 7 & 8 are currently available online! We released all of that information on May 4th. 3. The Blu-rays will be the special editions of the movies.

Thanks again and May the Force be with you!

You don't include yourself as a 'SW fan'? Interesting.

It is ironic though, because you'd think that the people in this thread refuse to accept any good news of any kind re: this BD set. Makes no sense to me, but I guess people gotta have something to ***** about at all times on the Internet.

It's ok to get a little excited ... the terrorists won't automatically win.

You've gotta be kidding me... LOL

I hope you don't do it, Ken. The people who want a good BD release already believe you. The people that don't can never get enough 'prof' to appease them.

Not being disrespectful towards kenkraly in any way when i say this , but if you look at his style of writing then this email is nothing like the way he would write it if he were to create a fake. I'd have to say it's genuine. The "select" lightsabre shots could mean anything though as it is so vague. It could mean that they just fixed the green saber aboard the falcon and the crossed lightsabres in ROTJ and left the rest alone, or it could mean they have fixed every single problematic one. But with also saying they went back in and did many technical improvements it could mean that they have done more work to the effects shots or adjusted the colour or both. But i've only got 38 days now until i'll see how these will look. It does seem strange though that we get it 4 days before you guys across the pond.It shouldn't be long hopefully before some reviews get posted online

Not that I don't trust him, but I agree a screenshot of the email will make his claim stronger. But of course it's up to him.

I find it odd that Lucasfilm has never gotten into any specifics regarding enhancements for home video releases in the past and yet, they have chosen to reveal the lightsabers have been fixed to a random fan who happened to email them. Not that I think he is necessarily lying, but surely Lucasfilm knows that fans are starving for details regarding this release and to reveal a key piece of information in a reply email to a simple fan and not through an official statement or other media outlet is bizzare to say the least.

In the words of Journey... "Don't stop believin."

I am just asking for validation, whats wrong with that If its true and he could post a screen shot then great and I'm happy they fixed the changes, unit then I'm skeptical.

Losing Empire of Dreams is bad enough, but if they're junking all the superb stuff from the prequel DVDs too then I'll get REALLY mad, Marvin-The-Martian-style.

I put all my SW DVDs up for sale when I heard about the Blu-rays, and, funnily enough, the only ones that have sold are the prequels. My point being that I'm gonna have to buy them yet again on DVD to get those terrific extras which appear to be AWOL from the Blu-ray set. But hey, there's a documentary about people dressing up as Storm Troopers instead! Great.

My feelings exactly. Disc 9 is a big disappointment for me. I'm glad to see the three classic docs and the new ESB feature. The rest of it, no thanks. It would have been great if they would have dumped the Spoofs and 501st "documentaries" and given us "From Star Wars to Jedi" and "Empire of Dreams" on Disc 9 instead. Obvious choices if you ask me. I thought "Star Wars Tech" was weak too but better than 3 hours of costumes and spoofs. With so many great docs missing, I'm still shaking my head on the stupid choices made for Disc 9.

In addition to what I suggested above, it would have been nice if they had used a BD-50 for a 10th disc and filled it with all previously released extras from the OT and prequel bonus DVD's, the extras from the DC, Faces, and SE Laserdisc sets, the R2D2 and "Return of the Ewok" shorts, the Wal-Mart ROTS bonus DVD, and the "Music of Star Wars" bonus DVD from the ROTS soundtrack. That's just under 20 hours of SD material, which can fit on a BD-50. That way, we could have dumped our DVD sets and dvd-r rips of the Laserdisc/VHS features. A couple of smarter choices on Disc 9 and a 10th disc could have made this set much better.

Discs 7 and 8 may turn out great but Disc 9 is a head-scratcher and a disappointment, in my opinion. With the wealth of special features available from Lucasfilm on Star Wars over the past 30 years, coupled with Blu-ray's capacity for SD material, a Disc 10 should have been included at a minimum.

Oh well, I'm crying over spilled milk, as I often have when it comes to Disc 9 on this set and the lack of a much-needed Disc 10.

I completely believe you Ken. I don't post in this thread very much, but I read it all the time, and you always seem to be one of the most level headed people in here.

I'm not sure if the person that sent you the email knows what they are talking about, but I'm positive that it's a real email.

I'm with ya there, as I also unloaded my Dvd's prior to the extras being announced. "Empire of Dreams" should've been incuded, along with the 3 main docs from Episodes 1-3, in place of the spoofs, 501st, etc. I was hoping that the doc "Legacy of Star Wars" would be included as well.

I've had pretty good luck getting email responses from Lucasfilm, as I've posted them here. The first response took two weeks and two emails but after the initial reply, she responded quickly to my other emails.

I'll try sending her another email asking about the lightsabers and if any changes have made to the color timing and other issues we all know about from the 2004 set. If they give me a response similar to what they gave Ken Kraly, it gives hope.

Anyone else want to try?

publicity@lucasfilm.com

Sent. Let's see if I get a response.

I don't trust any text. I demand that he find the writer of the email, produce a recorded video of them reading the email aloud, and signing a notarized document attesting to its truth.

I'm betting the lightsabers on these Blu-rays won't look anywhere near as good as what you've done with them, Ady.
