I can't wait for those! Thirty years of waiting to see them for a lot of people. I'm lucky to be young; I didn't have to wait so long! lol

Has this Star Wars box set been reviewed yet?? Are there any screen caps to look at yet? I want to read a review before I pick up the complete box set

No. I think it's going to be a few weeks before you see any reviews on it.

Not yet and most likely not for another couple of weeks.

There are 1080p screens from the Prequel Trilogy here, seems to have gone unnoticed (posted some pages back)

As a little bonus treat to help pass the time, enjoy a series of 1920x1080 (compressed) stills from the Prequel Trilogy below.

Agreed. I have a small shelf here of SW fan-focused documentaries. None of them is really worth a second viewing for me. Fan's are fine. I'm a huge fan of several things other than SW, but I'm just not interesting enough for me to watch myself in a documentary, and neither are they! I've had my years of Trekkies docs and the like and I would have preferred more substance from an official release. Leave the fan documentaries to the indie film makers. How about including that interview between Lucas and Charlie Rose, or Lucas and Bill Moyers? Now those would be bonus features I would watch many times over. Too bad.

The first one is terribly compressed, the second looks much better.

Is Ewan wearing a glove in the second pic? lol, never noticed that before

A. "From Star Wars to Jedi" Documentary
B. Skywalker Ranch Tour
C. Skywalker Ranch Archive Tour (they had clips of a documentary on starwars.com a couple years ago showing all the collectables, retro prints, toys etc)
D. TV Spots (toy/Coca-Cola/clothing commercials from the original and prequel trilogies)
E. Video of a possum trying to use a toilet
F. "Empire of Dreams" IN HD
G. A retrospect of changes made to the films throughout the years (a collage of scenes -stills even- of enhancements and scene changes from theatrical to 2011) Where it shows original, and progresses through the changes
H. "The Stars of Star Wars" (2000)

Agreed. I'm sorry. I love documentaries made by fans, such as the various docs for Halloween, Nightmare on Elm St., and American Werewolf in London released over the past few years. There's one for Jaws too. But I like them for their information on the films, not the fans themselves. In fact, when Halloween: 25 Years of Terror turns its attention to the fans, it's quite embarrassing. I expect nothing different from this documentary.

It would have been interesting to have seen a new HD documentary on all of the films, with some new interviews about the prequels in retrospect.

Perhaps something on the Expanded Universe and the various spinoffs over the years, such as two Clone Wars cartoons, the Droid and Ewok cartoons and movies, and dare I say The Holiday Special.

Maybe something detailing the many variations of the original Star Wars as it progressed from the early drafts to shooting script.

And I love the idea of the Changes featurette. Imagine seeing vintage footage of Beru's original voice. The original Star Wars changed various times from the mono, stereo, and 70mm versions. Not to mention, the opening crawl changed a couple years after its initial release.

As a companion piece to the Blu Ray set, might I suggest purchasing the coffee table books The Making of the Star Wars and The Making of Empire Strikes Back. Excellent in their detail of the process of making the first two Star Wars films. So expansive, that no documentary could hold all of that information.

It looks awful, the Clone Troopers are so clearly CGI.

I'll be honest with everybody - they could make this release out of toilet paper and market it similarly and I'd still be there day one at this point.

I would have to agree with you on that.

These two books Josh recommended are the absolute best "behind the scenes" companions in book form you can find.

They are not only expansive - but expensive, though. I have both and admit that they get repeat viewings 2-3 times per month. A lot of information on first drafts of the scripts, budget, crew info etc.

Must have for those uber fans! They may not be worth the price for the average-lukewarm fans though...

THE BLURAY SET IS GOING RIGHT NEXT TO THESE BOOKS ON MY SHELF!

meh... AOTC has always been the weakest entry in the saga, both visually and in terms of story

even on DVD, when compared to ROTS, you can see how "fake" and "cartoonish" the CG clones and Yoda look, Ep. 3 is a huge improvement.

I don't really expect the blu-ray release to be much different, but again that screen is horribly compressed! There should be much more detail for a film shot & rendered in 1080p.

Look at the droid's head exploding... artifacts all around it.

What are these screenshots supposed to show? the colour changes? Because I'm pretty sure my DVD looks better

[Show spoiler]That last part was a joke...

The site that these screens come from said they are compressed stills!

What the site means by the images being compressed is that they are compressed compared to the original that won't be as compressed.
