Sigh. Midichlorians are NOT the force and the films never say they are the force.

There's no reason to, so I highly doubt it. They're a metaphor for the symbiotic relationships of the film.

And as noted, they're not "The Force". The TPM commentary that's carried over to the Blu-Ray release covers this.

Frankly I think that they also could be somewhat seen as another example of how the Jedi Order has lost it's way.

Plus it makes sense that the Jedis would have some means of identifying potential candidates for training.

Not to mention that we already knew that there was a genetic aspect to the force. Given the skywalker family being "Strong In The Force".

Also, they do date back to 1977. Just weren't established on film until TPM:

"It is said that certain creatures are born with a higher awareness of the Force than humans. Their brains are different; they have more midi-chlorians in their cells." - George Lucas, establishing guidelines for the Expanded Universe in 1977.

Luke was a dumb blonde from the ass-end of Space. So it was smart of Obi-Wan and Yoda to not try to explain things.
Besides, Anakin being told how "Special" he was only made him more arrogant and hungry for glory and power.

A bad critic is going to write a bad review no matter how much time you give them. I think I heard Lucasfilm or some other studio defend the embargo with that excuse (or a similar one) on reviews of The Phantom Menace back in 1999. It was a bogus excuse then, it's a bogus excuse now. Anyone else remember when Roger Ebert broke the embargo because reviews for Phantom Menace were appearing on-line and elsewhere?

It puts every website reviewer on an even playing field.
Yeah - the studio's playing field.

And allows them time to go through the material.
How many reviews of extra-packed DVDs or Blu-Rays have you seen where the critic actually reviews every single supplement? Most times, the critic lists them, with a quick thought afterwards, such as "Die hard fans will enjoy these, but those not already converted will find little to blah blah blah..."

That was a way to detect potential Force users. Because the Jedi cannot go out all day long looking for Force sensitive types. They've gotta meditate, hold meetings, and discuss current events. like the Sith.

Just reading through these last few 100 pages everything about this post above except for George Lucas not changing the scene, the force strong in the Skywalker Family and commentary is dead wrong. How did you arrive at these conclusions? Sorry, not trying to jump on you as I don't know you but I can say that after these last 100 pages to the casual reader it seems you have an answer or opinion about every single topic regarding the Star Wars films, toys and Expanded Universe. You even argue with the people that seem to know so much about sound and picture quality, what George Lucas was thinking when he did this or that, why he did it and why this will be released or why this is not.

are you serious? ok answered for 1000th time : The bonus features discs are ONLY in the full saga collection. They are not included with the separate trilogy sets. the packaging is like the Alien set - cardboard book-style. look at almost any page of this thread for pics.

As mentioned by cinemaphile, you only get the movie discs, the 3 bonus discs only exclusive to the complete saga. Here's the only pic we have for the separate trilogies:

A standard case with slipbox.

Sorry you took some flak for asking this question for the 1000th time. The problem isn't you, it's that this thread is too long and cumbersome to be practical, and too generalist to be of use to you (or me). Your question and answer would easily have been found on the SW Bonus Features thread that I started this past weekend. Unfortunately a moderator deleted it and merged its contents with this soupy thread, only to be lost in the mix

We won't have this problem if every info is updated into the first post. But the thread starter doesn't seem to be active anymore. I always try to update the first post in all my threads but only him and the mods can do it here.
