With 2 weeks to go, of course those rips are real. I don't know anything about the manufacturing process of BDs, but these discs need to be hitting distribution centers very soon. Right now, some blind amputee Chinese orphan is stamping these out as quickly as he can to avoid getting whipped again by George Lucas.

That is tasteless :S and I do have a dark sense of humor, but that's pushing it.

I'm not saying that they are 100% fake, just that these things existed that looked much better than the HDTV broadcasts so you can't really tell if they are genuine or not from any screengrabs unless one of the reported fixes or alterations are shown.

I think that's very true about how we all connect in very different ways to these movies. There are many reasons why I enjoy these movies. One of the strongest reasons for me enjoying them is seeing the rise and fall of the Empire.

Return of the Jedi was my favorite of the OT growing up, strangely I think it's because of Emperor Palpatine. I love to hate that character. My favorite line of all the movies is him telling Luke about the deflector shields being "operational" and seeing him smile. I love it. This is probably why I like the prequels and especially love Revenge of the Sith. That's also why I'll always prefer the updated Empire Strikes Back, just because Ian McDiarmid is in it.

Thanks Ady,

you are the only one around here that seems to know what they are talking about when it comes to these films. The rest are just guessers and BS'ers.

The OT has bad acting too, specially A New Hope. I really admire George Lucas for having the vision and the determination he did to finish Star Wars, he can create some very cerebral work (as in THX 1138), and he is a very visual director; but he just isn't a good actors director -- the timing is just off in the episodes he directed. The one movie (out of the six) that has good acting, in my opinion, is The Empire Strikes back, thanks to Irvin Kershner.
Having said that; they are good movies that have bad acting, remember that George Lucas never intended them to be anything more than an homage to old serial advures and he wanted to make an impression on a younger audience. Star Wars is George Lucas' love letter to that genre.
The OT were homages to old Buck Rogers/ Flash Gordon Serials but the PT is not. They became way too deep to be a serial.

All evidence suggests that it will indeed be region-free.

So 'bragging rights' is what people are after? Do they wanna pop the blu-ray's cherry first?? Again, the whole 'my way or the highway' and 'I want it my way' way of thinking doesn't get us anywhere. There's no reason why we can't wait two more weeks; haven't we waited for years?? Reading this thread is both funny, amusing and sad, specially since most of us behave like teenagers waiting to lose their virginity or to 'experience' a woman. All most of you do is make ASSUMPTIONS out of every single image that's linked to Star Wars. WAIT PEOPLE! It's OK to wait!

- Special Edition Versions Only
- No Original Unaltered Versions
A note about the digital Yoda seems more applicable, IMO - while there may be changes to the prequels, Lucas hasn't yet released official "Special Editions" of episodes 1-3

Lol what did you expect, a cliche NOOOOOO! with hands raised to the sky in anguished fury? In a trauma such as that the emotion is usually beyond words. Now, had the scene been lacking Williams wonderful score I would question it. Music is used to convey and enhance a scene. In this case John Williams music conveyed Luke's silent grief while also conveying the realization that fate is steering him towards his destiny. Personally I prefer Luke's silent grief with just the music and his body language conveying the emotion.
