If Lucas adds "Noooooo" to ROTJ but didn't update the lightsaber effects I will be afraid to look at this thread come the 16th.

I don't get that sense at all. Why do you think he was joking?

EDIT

Nevermind...looks like he wasn't joking after all.

Oh, Jesus, here we go...

Last desperate attempt to convince myself that the added Nooo's are proof of an elaborate hoax...

Another classic moment that will need to be watched with clenched teeth.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but I'm afraid the 'noooo' from the Emperor is new. There always was a 'nooooo' from him if you go to the dvds, but this one is new for sure. It's unclear whether it's Vader saying it or Palps.

I wonder if this is something that has been brought out by the sound mix then?

Are you saying it may be Palps and not Vader?

. Waiting to see if anyone else can verify if true.

He says:
[Show spoiler]"there is a quiet 'no' as he turns away from palps then as he turns back and picks him up the longer 'noooooo' comes. i think its a different one from sith."
Haha! Someone should do a fan edit of that.

That is true. The Emperor did say no when Vader picked him up.

Long shot here but could this be from the new audio mix and that it's much clearer than before...or am I freaking nuts and Lucas changed it for really real?

Well, doesn't matter. I need to hear it from myself before I pass judgment.

I'm not sure actually, would be easier if Vader had a mouth to see who was doing the noooo'ing, but as far as I'm concerned regardless of who the hell is noooo'ing, its new.

Vader's voice is so low and artificially enhanced, I can't see how it could be confused with Palpatine. Even his Nooo in ROTS sounds nothing like Palpatine.

Maybe they should have Luke screaming No in unison and then Vader has a go, and then Luke.

I guess, if you can't really tell who is saying it it can't be that bad then...

I'm clutching at straws aren't I?

Must not be listening very closely, I'm not extremely familiar with the OT like everyone here, but just checked the scene, right before Vader grabs the Emperor, he says nooo as in saying noo to shocking Luke.

Matthew Wood did state that they did find new elements when they went back and remastered the audio. It could be from that. It could be newly recorded.

I guess the only question to clear up is is it from Vader or the Emperor? That'll give us something.

Default Special Moments in Star Wars!

Special Moments in Star Wars!

The Empire Strikes Back

Darth Vader Returns!

Back when The Empire Strikes Back first arrived in theaters, fans of Star Wars had no idea what really became of Darth Vader after the first film, A New Hope. All we knew was that his Tie Fighter spun off into space, and that was it.

In The Empire Strikes Back, we first see Darth Vader standing in front of a window on his Super Star Destroyer, surveying his fleet in deep space.

For many fans at the time, it was a thrilling moment indeed! Darth Vader was back -- more bad@$$ than ever!

If you can't tell who it is it has to be Palpatine. Because he was already screaming in that scene as is and likely various recordings had different verisions of him screaming and Vader's voice is insanely distinctive. I can't see confusing it with anyone else.

emb,

Basically, as he goes to pick up the Emperor, after looking at Luke, he says no, right? Right as the music hits the crescendo?
