I think the 'No' fit pretty good, and ties it very well into ep 3.

Unlike many other sequels/prequels GL has the ability to make adjustments in both the first and last made films to make sure they all seem like they were made in sequence around the same time. I prefer this to having some films look old and some look new.
And not only does he have the ability to do it, he has the determination to make the adjustments despite some very loud critizism from a few so-called 'fans'.

Not saying that anyone not loving the changes are not fans, but those who scream loudest usually are not in my opinion.

Think Sam Axe says it best in Burn Notice intro..'a bunch of ....'

I'm not going to abuse anyone, because I don't want to go back to jail. Of course it fits, but its completely unnecessary and it works better with silence. Lucas could add a line for luke like "OMG this *beep* hurts. Please stop!", but its still better without.

It does not fit into the scene

it makes the scene a lot more shallow

And it's like adding vinegar instead of sugar to a cake - no matter how good the cake will look, it'll still taste awful

I agree with you somewhat. Believe me, if it was my choice I'd just leave the scene as originally was (And everything else) I'm not trying to defend the scenes existence. But It honestly wasn't as bad watching it as it was reading about the "no" and thinking about it in my head. I've watched the thing 5 times now from the rip, and I do think they matched it about as good as you can. But it won't matter how seamless it seems because to a number of fans, just the mumble of a "no" will drive them nuts. And they're certainly entitled to feel that way since the scene has been changed.

Had I not seen this movie before, I think it would seem quite natural. If it truly sounded crappy and out of place, I'd say so. But it wasn't as bad as I thought. Pointless nonetheless, but it would actually be a change I could live with compared to others.
Thanks for the clarification. It was a spelling error that was confusing me with the original statement (plus I'm tired).

Something I'm now curious about after hearing about these updates is what the lightsabers are actually supposed to look like.
Are the images of the bright, fully green and red sabers 'correct' or the images of the sabers that appear white with a color hue halo around them?
I hope that makes sense enough for someone to answer.

The only time I ever studied these films (12 years ago) the majority of it was story-based research. I never paid much attention to the visuals, so many of the changes I am reading now I probably would never have recognized.
Perhaps I should quit reading through here and just enjoy the films the way they are now since I don't have an emotional attachment to them like most people do.

It's been mentioned before, but in my opinion, the Emperor, Vader, Luke scene at the the end of Jedi is the best scene of the entire OT. It's gonna take me while to accept the "NO!" B.S., if it is truly real, which it appears that it is.

I'm going to bed now, to dream of Sugar Plumb faery insanities that only G.L. could dream of, pun intended.

That's interesting. I watched the vid for that and felt like the music sounded funny - like it was stretched a couple bars too long - but as far as the character is concerned, I kind of like the tie-in. Reminds me that the Star Wars galaxy is really no bigger than my own.

I must sound crazy...

Judging by the comments here, The People Vs George Lucas film should be a best seller!

I agree, if true, it's more shallow now. Instead of him quietly brooding it over in his mind and soul, which is a far more powerful statement, now it's just comic. I mean even though you can't see his face under the mask, you can see and feel his angst and confusion at the situation before him. The silence adds a sense of weight, which is perfect considering this is his final chance to save himself, let alone his son and everybody else. Adding the NO! just makes a mockery of the weight and stress on his shoulders at that moment. Look at a funeral, people are somber and dignified. It's a time of reflection and respect for a life lived. Now imagine you standing up at a funeral and yelling NOOOO! It doesn't work.

I believe the white core with a colored hue is correct. And from everything I've watched on the rips, they look correct. Which is great. Those were definitely a problem with the DVD.

If you don't have much of an emotional attachment, than I doubt any newer changes are going to make a big difference. My personal attachment is to the unaltered trilogy. But I realized a number of years ago that the special editions and UOT are not the same entity. When I stopped wanting the special editions to be something they're not, I was able to enjoy them almost as much as I enjoyed the UOT. Which is why it's hard for me to get into a huff about these new changes. Especially when the PQ looks as great as it does. I know there will be new fan edits now. And they will be 99% accurate to the UOT. And they will look great.

The PT is not Oscar worthy, but there was nothing wrong with Sebulba. I'm pretty sure that's not him anyway but just one of his kind.

Oh thanks!

That was the first time I heard the new Krayt (spelling?) scream. Wow. That's abysmal, and in all honesty, that's probably worse than the new "No!" for me.

I mean, "NO!" at least fits the scene, albeit in a completely poor Lucas-ian fashion. But that scream is going to pull me out every time.

Sigh.
