I agree the addition of the line doesn't add anything, but it doesn't take away anything either. If it was in there originally, everyone would still think it was a brilliant and moving scene.
Just like everyone instantly loved Vader's "No" at the end of Revenge of the Sith? From a filmmaking standpoint, if you were to show two versions of the ending of Return of the Jedi... one with the two "No's" and the original version without it, I promise you more people would think the original version is more powerful... which it is.

Han was originally supposed to say "I love you too" in response to Leia's "I love you" in Empire. Instead, the ad libbed "I know" made the scene a pop culture classic. Two lines of dialogue can have a HUGE impact on a scene for the better or for the worse. Giving Vader any dialogue during that scenes ruins what was once a great cinematic moment. Just as changing Han's line back to "I love you too" wouldn't change the context of the scene, it does hurt what made the scene so good to begin with.

Emptiness. I just feel empty.

No other way to describe my feelings. With the 04 hack job editions in mind I was worried about this release from the beginning, and it just got worse after the May 4th. disaster up until a few days ago, where these latest changes were confirmed.

Lucas has crossed the line for my part.

It was difficult for me to sit down and actually enjoy watching the OT in the 04 edition, but with these latest changes it will become impossible.

They're abominations now, patched together from wildly inconsistent CGI VFX from the past 15 years and products of extremely poor creative choices - that aren't even consistenly applied to the scenes.

Preorder cancelled, 04 dvd's put up on eBay and never returning to Star Wars again. Have a better one.

I'm convinced this is the truth. The 'creator of Star Wars' cannot be blind to the fact that virtually everyone ridiculed Vader's "Noooo!!!!" at the end of RotS. He's doing this because he can and to try to validate his crappy Prequel writing.

If I watch these films in numerical order, by the time we get to THE ONE, I know I'll have forgotten about it. That's how deep I can get into Star Wars when I marathon them...
yeah it seems like the overreaction has reached new hights here.
Hilarious to read some actually will cancel their orders because of this

Default I am keeping my order...

I see where the madness if coming from, but look at it from a marketing sense...

The original movies, untouched, are the fan favorite. Why put that set out first? Put the newer editions out first so most of these same people will buy this set. Then put out the original untouched set out a few years from now and get those double dippers out there...

It's the same thing that happened with Lord of the Rings, only opposite. Most people prefer the extended editions, so they put out the original set first, then the extended...I bet there were a lot of Lord of the Ring double dippers out there.

You guys will eventually get the versions you want, just not on September 16, 2011.

You can't "promise" that. That's just your own opinion.

And sales from people now curious as to what the fuss is all about. Genius! The star wars saga is dying away as the generation raised on it gets older. This whole storm will be free refreshing of the brand. Think of all the clone wars fans who will now badger their parents to buy this. He probably didn't even want to add the Nooooooooooooooo but knowing the free publicity it would create when the fanboys start frothing at the mouth, pushing sales up 15-20% at NO COST, credit where credit is due.

To the pre-order cancellation peepes:

Will you buy individual blu-ray releases when they come out? For example, just buy the Empire Strikes Back blu-ray?

I can live with the 'Nooooo'; Greedo shooting first is the one that gets me.

The triangle of doom on the Wampa arm does not bother you either? Did they recomposit it on a 1977 television? Did they not realize that most tvs, monitors, and projectors in 2011 are square on the corners?
I wouldn't have ever noticed it had Lucasfilm's article on starwars.com hadn't pointed it out. That's how much I know these movies.

Not until i know for certain that he didn't eff with anything else in Empire. If he didn't, i'd consider it for like $10.

Has anyone seen the new Greedo clip yet?

Funny enough, it's the best version that Lucas has done since he changed it. Go figure.

He drowned out one of the blaster shots so it sounds exactly like it did in '77 with just one shot...even if he's still has them both shooting. Lucas is genius.....

"NOOOOOOO!!!": It's the new "I have a bad feeling about this"!

(Hey, it's shorter, makes kind of the same point; maybe all the "bad feeling" lines can be replaced with "No!"s too!)

Damnit, I said about 50-100pp ago that I was done with this. Now I am. For real.

Same here, I never noticed that until last week. I've watched the original three films many time when I was young and not once did I see the puppeteers arm!
