Fully agreed, but I would have hoped for a new transfer to remedy that issue.

Wow, I wish you had an option to take a couple of screen shots. You are essentially the only person on the net that has posted screen shots of the actual discs, proving that you have them in hand.

So as of right now, you are the chosen one....

Good or bad? I'm expecting episode 2 and 3 to be the best of the bunch.

Filtered. It's been noted that they used filters for Episode II because they felt that the first generation HD camera produced an image that was too sharp.

But, funny enough, they didn't use filters for Episode III with the new cameras.

The soft, but highly detailed look of Episode II goes with the story he's telling in that film.

People are going to be surprised how Episode II looks in comparison to Episode III.

Episode II will look the most fake out of all the films. Bet on it. And there are a lot of reasons for that.

My body is ready for some Episode III screens. Gimme gimme gimme!

EDIT: Speak of the devil!

Looks amazing! My only wish was that it was mixed in the same vein as I and II. Imagine the sabers having the same beefy low-end to them as they had in the Duel of the Fates. Ah well.

I've got to say, those screen caps of III look simply awesome, I'm expecting great things from episode 3's transfer. On par with Avatar I'd say.

NOT HAPPY about Episode I, though.

EDIT: That first shot perfectly explains why I've continued to watch Episode II over the years.

See, Episode III is just better. They had better HD cameras. ILM was ready for the workload for Episode III in comparison to Episode II.

Episode III's the best looking Star Wars film and the Blu Ray will show it. It's going to look breathtaking...

Yeah...

I did however take a photo from 01:34:31 directly off my display. The colours and probably everything else is way distorted by the camera, but I think you should be able to see the DNR to some extent. I have the video unmanipulated both from the player and on my screen. Take it for what you will. And this *IS* from the BD.

Look at that Padme screencap for Episode III....stunning.

You can see how much make up Portman had during that scene. It's almost distracting.

I feel like I'm in a wax museum. AOTC and ROTS look good though. Just waiting on reviewers now.

I think it would have taken a bit longer than that

I think of many things people are put off by the prequels is that it doesn't seem like the story of what needed to be accomplished prior to ANH was spread out enough. Lucas was even quoted to having called rots "60% of the story." It actually needed to be a third, and could have.

TPM should have started out with Anikin in his teenage years. Like 13 maybe 14. Thus certain elements of the film would have been more believable:

-Such as the possibility of Padme being attracted to him
-being "too old to become a padawan"
-him being allowed to pilot a podrace and much later a fighter.
-It would have added a bit more consistency. You wouldn't have to re-introduce the character in Episode II.
-It could have made the romance between Padme and Anikin more believable and not so rushed.

As is, he comes across as creepy in some scenes. The moment where he touches her back comes to mind. In others, he's simply whining like a child. Part of what makes it weird is that in TPM, he appears to be 8 (10 at most but he hardly looks it) and she appears to be between the ages of 12 and 15 at the most. Logistically, there would be no reason for her to be attracted to him in any sort of way. Then it becomes apparent that they hadn't seen each other in nearly a decade. So its not like they had chemistry that built up over time. (if he were older in TPM, the romance could have started then and blossomed in the second movie) So that gives only the time they spend together to fall in love or rather her fall in love with him. But from what we see on the screen, it hardly seems logical. I think the only scene where they are having fun together is the sequence in the fields, other than that he's most being arrogant, in a bad way, or just plain creepy.

If they were closer to each other's ages (at those ages, age really does matter), they could have started flirting then. By the time we hit Episode II, they are secretly in love.

I think the reason why it kind of fails at romance is that Lucas just tried too hard to do the romance and keep it centered. The act of falling in love is something that it hard to communicate on screen easily. It's often better, and sometimes even feels more natural, if they just skip that part and just show them in love already and have that blossom into a courtship.

A part of me also wishes that instead of the battle droids and trade federation, weak villains as they were, the seperatists should have been introduced in TPM, thus starting the Clone Wars earlier (and giving that film better villains) , having the second film take place during the wars, and the third at the end.

I also think a lot of the prequels problems have mainly to do with dialogue. Simply clean it up here and there. Give the dialogue character and attitude. As it stands, it is dry. Sometimes, dialogue wasn't needed at all. Instead of Obi Wan stopping Ani in midst of a chase for a minute and a half dialogue scene so he can ramble about jedi teachings, he could just handed the lightsaber and said "try not to lose it next time." instead of "be mindful, blah blah blah blah blah!"

For Episode II, yes. But, that's just Portman for you. She's just beautiful.
