Hopefully I'll get my set from DD on or before Saturday (it just shipped, according to an email I just received), and some friends and I are gonna have a 'Star Wars Nite' night, but we're just watching IV.

Then, as my signature says, I - V - II - III - VI. Again, IMO, the story flows more in a Godfather Parts I and II kind of way. Episode IV, like Godfather Part I, is a great stand alone movie, and the rest, watched the way I described, would feel very Godfather Part II.

Again, IMO.

It is worth it for those that love it, and not worth it for those that don't. That's the problem with seeking people's opinion on whether to buy something like this.

Rent the films, watch them again, and judge for yourself! I'll assume you're not in it for the special features, being that you're not a big fan...

Strangely, if you don't care much for SW this is the set for you. If you love Star Wars then I wouldn't buy it. It is not the same Star Wars of the 70s and 80s.

How can anyone possibly answer that vague question ("is it worth it?") for someone else?

I would think that spending ~$80 on something for which you're not a big fan is probably not worth it, but you liked it enough to pre-order, so...

I don't know.

Yeah, that really makes sense. In short:

Wasn't there a big electricity field wall thingy between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon/Maul?

Because he wasn't constantly dueling a guy for a good time. Why would he be tired at the beginning of the movie? He was just there, deflecting bolts when a droid come up.

Who said he was only tired that moment?

Isn't it shown in the movie that he's tired? At least, that what I (and others) see.

Me neither.

Who said we are not accepting the movies as "just movies"? Just because they're movies, does it mean things can't have an explanation? And what's your point with him doing the "amazing things" he does in the movie? Is that supposed to contradict his tiredness?

No need for strawmen.

And those aditionnal lines of informations would have to be rescaled to 817 lines by the projector, because that's the actual resolution of the area that is projected. 1920 / 2.35 = 817.

To benefits from an anamorphic system, you'd need a projector whose actual resolution is 2538 X 1080, a native 2.35 ratio of pixels.

Your projector is not 2.35, neither is mine.

Scaling will produce artifacts, when a 1:1 maping will not.

*Edit : i see you are using an anamorphic lens, thus you may see benefits of higher vertical resolution.

There were several intermittently-activating barriers on a long corridor, if I remember correctly. Obi-Wan ran through several of them (when deactivated) at a time at "normal speed", which is what begs the question in the first place.

I usually would follow with the OT first then the prequels, but I am going to change it up a bit and go by episode order (1-6) for the first time. My favorites in preference order: The Empires Strikes Back, A New Hope, Return of the Jedi, Attack of the Clones, The Phantom Menace and in last place Revenge of the Sith.

$80 isnt all that bad for 6 films, I'm a fan, just that I started doubting the purchase after all the crazy negative reviews.

That's a bogus advice. I love Star Wars to bits and that first movie sparked my love for movies in general when I was a kid (I'm 35 now). I'm not happy about most of the changes, but guess what: the preordered boxset is on its way to me, despite everything. And no: I didn't buy it for the extras, because they seem to be mostly crap anyway (a complete disc dedicated to spoofs? Really?! A documentary about cosplay freaks? The hell...?!).

I'm *****ing about the alterations and some of the weak creative decisions like adding digital grain back in to the OTs after scrubbing them clean, etc., plus I'm not a big fan of the PT but I am still buying the whole Saga. I love the UOT and this is as close as we will probably ever get on Blu, and if I'm getting the OT I might as well get the PT because I'm an OCD completionist, but really... your mileage may vary.

How much you like certain elements of this series should determine whether or not you get it.

If you aren't a big SW fan though, I'd recommend waiting for a price drop. If you just want BDs to show off, I guarantee there are better-looking ones. The SW flicks will probably push your sound system to the max though, they could very well be demo-worthy on the audio side.

It's a crapshoot, but really for $80 and you're not the biggest fan, I'd say save that money and buy Thor, Citizen Kane, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown because they are almost upon us.

The prequels first for me, then the originals. Gotta save the best for last!

Me too, on both counts.

Right now, I rank them in order of preference: VI, III, I, II, V, IV

Oh, in that case, why can't we just say that he assumed an experienced Jedi would have had no problems with his own one-on-one lightsaber battle, especially since Obi-Wan was still just a padawan.

Or, why don't we just curse Lucas for putting something that belongs in a video game right at a crucial point in a movie simply to add tension. Different dialogue or a more intense (and I actually like this 2-on-one fight...one of the best in the series) battle could have made a viewer just as anxious.

True, but it sounded a bit too much like a factual statement than just your opinion and I wanted to provide my counterview on that.
