This is my first post thus far on this thread....although, I have been reading for quite some time.

Has anyone found information on other professional reviews other than blu-ray.com?

has anyone ever gotten a reasonable explaination for how Anakin went from being a young kid in the first movie to basically the same age as Padme in the next movie??? I've always thought that was a huge screw up..unless there's a good reason for it. There was at least a 10 year difference in their age..and then by the 3rd movie he appears 5 years older than she is. WTF?

I wouldn't have chosen Jedi Rocks but let's not pretend Lapti Nek didn't stink.

Sorry, every time I hear someone use that word, I think of Shawshank, or this joke about it.

I liked it better the more times I saw it (VHS then DVD). (I can't remember if I saw it more than once in theaters).
I did the same thing and have grown to like it more than I did, although I don't apologize for liking II and III. Phantom Menace is like my sister. We've drifted apart. Our politics and religion couldn't be more different. But she's my sister and we still see each other on Holidays. It's unlike my sister in that she doesn't have cool tattoos and a double-bladed lightsabre.

He should have died of dehydration on Tatooine within minutes been a semi-water based creature. He was definitely a fish-out-of-water character. His main goal was to introduce us to the Gungan's and bridge the gap between the Nabooan's. After that he should have been shot in the face....
Jar Jar served a purpose in TPM as the comic relief, something that in the other 5 films is done by the R2D2 and C3P0. The droids' presence in the first film was at its smallest of the entire saga, so Jar Jar served a purpose in filling that void. Had he had an expanded role in the next two films, it would have moved the series much closer to comedy than sci-fi drama. Lucas would have realized this during the script writing process of Episode 2 and he made the appropriate change. Some can say it was because fans were upset with Jar Jar, but reducing his role from a story telling perspective makes a world of sense.

Also, the character of Jar Jar was so cartoonish in the first film that an expanded role in the Senate would have been VERY difficult for most to believe him as a serious character. You can only suspend belief so far. I thought his reduced role was handled perfectly in ATOC and ROTS. Less is more in this case.

Anakin was 9 and Padme was 15 (I believe, maybe 14) in TPM."

Anakin was 19 and Padme was 24-25 in AotC.

So you have a ~6 year difference. Little Anakin isn't even in puberty yet, or at least just started. Padme's been through with puberty, probably nearly done with it. Her looks won't change THAT drastically in those 10 years, but Anakin's looks will because he went through puberty, which explains his drastic changes in looks.

Ok, makes sense. I'll probably give them a call tomorrow then when I'm done with class. By tomorrow they'll also definitely know if any events are going on. Thank you!

I only really ask because I went to Wal*Mart myself yesterday, and asked about anything going on at midnight for the BDs. They pretty much told me:

"Oh yeah that's coming out, I don't think we'll be having anything for it but as long as we have it, you can get it [at midnight]. Call back if you want to make sure though."

So they sounded like they either A. Didn't get them in yet as of yesterday (which was right before noon IIRC, so they could have received shipment of it afterward) or B. They were just specifying, "Yeah, we're a 24 hour store, if something comes out on a certain date, then you're definitely gonna be able to get it on the stroke of midnight."

Should I just call them and think they'll tell me if they got them in?
Don't bother calling. They will have them at midnight and you will more than likely annoy the poor guy answering the phone as he is probably fielding that call every hour. All Walmarts will have copies at midnight (if they are 24 hour stores). They don't have to tell you if they have something in the stock room at all as SOME customers (not you) may take that as a statement of: "C'mon down and pick up a copy today!" Be confident that they will be there before 11:59 PM tomorrow night.

Just got home and have unboxed the set,and I have to say it's a pretty cool looking boxset.

The disc holders are much more forgiving than the ones used in the alien boxset.

I will be having a look at all the movies and will post my opinions,I will also check the movies against my Dvd's on both my 32 inch l.c.d and my 110 inch projection screen.

He should have followed the example of A New Hope and left the band as mere background decoration. I don't like the original Lapti Nek and detest Jedi Rocks ten fold. It's a moment for me that takes you out of the movie and says, 'hey look at what we can do poorly'. Not to mention when Sy Snootles in the Jedi Rocks version pines for the camera it's just awkward on so many levels. Lapti Nek is poor, but it fits the atmosphere of the setting. I wouldn't expect or think Jabba would have some fancy band with Rockettes singing backing vocals?

Same reason the high school 'kids' in 90210 are actually pushing 30.

Have now watched 5 of the 6 movies (only ROTS to go) and i have to say i'm seriously impressed by the set so far. I'm picking up little details that i simply never noticed viewing these movies on VHS and even DVD down the years thanks to the extra resolution. I never picked up on the fact than Han has blood all over his palms at the entrance to the Endor shield bunker after Leia is shot in the arm, for example.

I'm counting down to the official North America release...

not illegal download versions or copies that broke street date or the already released UK versions... sorry for the confusion.

Most likely, they either already have the stock in the back of the store, or at least will have before midnight.

But that doesn't mean that they will immediately have the stock out on the floor at the "stroke of midnight". You may have to specifically ask someone to go back and get it for you. What they are telling you is that they aren't planning some kind of special midnight event for this. Their procedures are probably going to treat it just like any other movie release, and they will probably put it out on the shelves during whatever time they typically put movies out on their release dates, which may not be until well into the day.

There is a 24 hour Wal-Mart Super Center near where I live that I frequent. I stopped by there early in the morning on Friday 9/9 on my way to work to get X-Men First Class (and Friday was the release date for it). They didn't have it out at all yet, so I asked someone who worked in that area about it, and she went in the back and got me a copy.

So, you should be able to get it, you just may have to ask for it.

Lapti Nek wasn't anything spectacular, I'll agree. But it was more subtle. There were a few shots of the band playing, etc, but it was otherwise more of something going on in the background while everything else was happening, and not something where the whole plot of the movie just stops specifically because of it.
