(This being told to me while we stood by a large placard stating it's release at Midnight - an hour an a half before I arrived!)
I remember when Best Buy started that trade-in program where you could bring in any DVD movie and get a $5 coupon good towards certain Blu-rays...

I went in on the first day... saw all the signs that directed you to customer service... and immediately found out that customer service didn't know what to do. They didn't even know (including the manager on duty) that they had the trade-in program... even though somebody put out all the signs!

As for Wal-Mart... I was once in a Wal-Mart... waiting in line behind a couple of people and people were lining up behind me... and when it came my turn, the cashier turned off her light and started to walk away... and I said, "hey, we have been in line where are you going?" and she told me that she "had to go to lunch" and that her manager "mandated" this lunch break immediately.

No helping the customers already in line... no advance warning.. and no helping us to a new open register so we didn't have to get in the back of the queue elsewhere.

So... I left my cart full of stuff there at the register, explained why to the people behind me... and said I too was going on a lunch break... only I didn't go back to that store!

Meanwhile... on topic... I will be going out later today to get my set from Best Buy.

Went to Target at Holyoke Mall at 8am, the lady who was doing inventory at the movie isles had no idea what Star Wars is. She called another Target worker to find out what Star Wars is. They then searched for the box sets for 20 minutes and finally came out of the inventory room with 3 copies of the Complete Saga and about 6 copies of the Original Trilogy, and at the time there were 4 of us wanting the Complete Saga.

They said sorry to one lady and she got angry and stormed off. We then asked about the lithograph gift that was mentioned in the Target ads and they went back to the inventory room and couldn't find any. They then called another Target worker and were told that they had already set up the Star Wars kiosk near the cashiers. We went there and finally got our lithographs. btw they had 39 copies of the Complete Saga.

Can't wait to watch IV later today

Amazon shipped my Complete Saga a day early so I was lucky enough to watch through [most] of the discs last night.

I'm not a videophile, so picture-wise, I didn't see a lot of the flaws that most people have been complaining about.

My biggest gripe, aside from blinking Ewoks and whining Vaders, is the lack of special features. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but I can't believe there are no trailers (the prequel trailers were arguably more interesting than the films themselves) and the documentaries disc is way less comprehensive than I anticipated (I always assumed the "and more" meant "more docs").

I'm especially displeased with the lack of "Empire of Dreams" and the feature length docs from the prequel DVDs (as much as I dislike the movie itself, the Phantom Menace doc is one of my all-time favorite behind-the-scenes DVD special features).

I'm glad I own Star Wars on blu (self-inflicted warts and all), but I wish it was a comprehensive as, say, the Burton/Schumacher Batman blu-ray set was. Now I regret selling my SW DVDs.

Don't worry, I am. I was just wondering if it was a batch problem, or an isolated 1 copy problem...my damn luck. Oh well. I can at least watch the movies this weekend.

My BB opens at 10am and I just did store pickup for the complete saga w/the shirt. When the doors open at 10, they will be sold out of the shirts right away, meanwhile my order will be nicely tucked away behind CS. This way I don't have to fight with the slugs....

can any Canadians confirm the Saga is the same packaging as the US version (as in not bilingual) just like the Alien Anthology was? I got mine pre-ordered and will be picking it up after work so just wanted to know.

I got mines at Target, there definitely should be a booklet inside the pocket on the last page, it explains all the contents of the discs, very handy.

From reading the review, it seems LFL didn't go all-out with this release as far as restoration goes...and how about the idea of an all-digital Yoda in the OT, eh...?

Conclusion: another release in the future...
