Apologist my gungan arse. And Indiana Jones has 3 great films. Raiders, Last Crusade, and Crystal Skull.

And if you turn off Temple of Doom just after Indy and Pals escapes on the plane at start, Temple is awesome also.

Personal enjoyment of a film is absolutely subjective. Flaws in continuity, character development, plot structure, etc., are less so.

The reason, I think, it always degenerates into such a passionate "I'm right and you're wrong" argument is because you have people talking from different perspectives. No amount of logical analysis of the plots will sway someone's emotional attachment. Nor should it. Likewise, no argument telling someone to just enjoy them for what they are will sway someone locked into the flaws of the films. Again, nor should it.

When I'm watching the PT, I enjoy the heck out of them. They are entertaining - some in bits and pieces, some more as a whole.

However, when I'm NOT watching them, the significant flaws (for example, the lack of a clear protagonist in TPM) are far more glaring to me. It's a strange dichotomy because right here I could cite dozens of pages worth of instances of poor/character story structure in the PT, but at the same time, I can't wait to make the time to sit down and watch all 6 films. And I'll have a big grin on my face the entire time.

So at what age do you think kids can watch these? I know each child is different. My 5 year old loves the Lego games, my 3 year old watches him play some.

I'm not one to overly protect them but at the same time i wouldn't show them Episode III for sure, but maybe some of the others. I'll probably watch them first for a refresher before I decide. I am merely curious as to what others do.

Sure you can. Just like your criticism can be mocked as completely insignificant, as well.

A lot of Alien fans will tell you half the Alien movies suck, a lot of people who love Back to the Future have no use whatsoever for the sequels and the fact that the odd numbered movies are iffy at best is a running joke among Star Trek fans.

Hell, even Coppola only got to 66% with The Godfathers and he had Mario Puzo doing the writing.

Two really good movies, two more or less okay movies and two really bad movies really isn't all that bad an average.

I just have to say it since I received both in the mail today... the Ben-Hur boxed set makes the Star Wars boxed set look like a tinker-toy. Seriously.

That being said, the discs are all very safe inside the book style packaging. Not a single scrape or anything on a single one. There's a speck or two on two of the discs I'd like to clean off though... even though they're tiny enough I'm sure they won't affect playback but, if I have to use something other than the cloth to get them off, what's the safest way? Water?

Wrong again this is your subjective opinion, you and some perceive flaws in plot, structure and character development, I and many other fans don't see these flaws. I don't appreciate the condescending attitude many come with that if you can enjoy these films but you can't be blind to the so called "flaws". I am not debating this anymore, I can see this turning into a heated debate and I am not going down that road again, I respect your opinion, but you can't give a complete objective analysis to film and art because by nature it is 100% SUBJECTIVE, nice try though!

Other than when Qui-Gon gets run through with Darth Maul's lightsaber.. a 5 year old probably would enjoy TPM.

Hell, kids that age watch Disney cartoons and there's death and serious stuff in them also. They'll probably enjoy Jar Jar a lot.

So yeah, give 'em a try with TPM. Just distract them when Qui-Gon's about to get killed during the duel.

5 years and up.

Yes, even Episode III, and yes, that goes for all kids.

I mean, you want kids these days to be raised right!

Could it be that (and from now I'll be labeled as a PT lover/LFL employee/Fanboy/hater/apologist/etc/etc/etc) there is DNR on selected shots? I read on another forum that those could've been from the reshoots which might have been recorded in very early HD cameras.

I dunno. I went with friends who had kids to RotS. And they were a bit older than 5.

The death of the Jedi Kiddies and Anakin burning alive was just a bit too much for them.

I just picked up my copy from BB, and was lucky enough they even had the free T-Shirts left, so I got one of those as well.

I'd say IV-VI are good for any age, especially because the good vs. evil thing is played out so well. I - IIII are a bit more mindless violence IMO, with III obviously being the one to be most concerned with. But I can think of worse things that are deemed "ok" for kids these days. My oldest was 5 when III released, and he wouldn't watch it because the Emperor creeped him out. I wouldn't recommend III for a 5 year-old, but trust your judgement. At the very least you could skip through the more horrific parts as mentioned above.

Yeah, Episode 1 is pretty tame. Both my kids understand it is all fake/pretend. I still wouldn't do Ep III for a few years, Anakin's slaughterhouse is a bit much. Thanks for the input.

Fully agreed on Disney, some scary stuff but they can't live in a bubble.

IV-VI I pretty much agree. Though my III year old will probably be bored anyways. My V year old loves the Lego games.

Sorry, I realize this could turn into a massive debate.

The Emperor is still creepy :0

It looks like the whole film underwent a light degraining like what happened with Aliens.

And it's quite possible. The worst shots is a couple of Qui-Gon on Coruscant.

But look at the original scene of that on the DVD, it appeared to be seriously filtered and grainy.

Picked it up at Future Shop today

I was one of the first 5 people in line (there were only 5 people ), so I got a free "Dark Side Detector" mini lightsaber.

Since I purchased the Complete Saga, I got the envelope of 8 lithographs (prints of the inside artwork on high quality paper).

There was a draw for a Darth Maul Force FX lightsaber, since only 5 people lined up at 7:50, the odds were 1:5... pretty good

Unfortunately, not my lucky day

After the release, Lucas said that there was one digitally shot scene in Ep 1, and he challenged everyone to point it out. I suspect that the Qui Gon and Obi Wan sequence on the Coruscant landing platform before returning to Naboo is that scene..
