question guys. It's been a while since I've picked up a Star Wars continuation novel. I don't know if many of you hate them, if you do, then I apologize for bringing it up lol. Any recommendations? I want to start reading the New Jedi Order, but I don't know if i have time to read 19 novels

fanboy much?
It's not a problem... it's just there... probably something during the film scanning. I'll bet it was on the DVD as well.

If you're not seeing anything with those newer movies, well look closer. It's less apparent on new movies but things do pop up from time to time.

But it doesn't matter anyways, you're not viewing with the proper settings, so how can you get mad if you're seeing things you don't want.

Set your video options to "16x9" or "Set By Program" instead of "Just Scan" or whatever you have it on now.

You're complaining about something that, under normal viewing conditions and settings, would not be visible.

LOL and please don't even go there with "fanboy." That's the lowest form of insult, I doubt you want to stoop to that level. If you read some of my posts before the set came out, you'll realize I'm far from being one. I posted the pics that started the whole "Luke's green lightsaber wasn't fixed" fiasco.

That being said, I'm fair. While I'm pissed that some things weren't fixed, I'm not going to criticize something that I shouldn't be seeing.

It's like how people watch a movie that has been open-matted and complain about boom mikes and crew members being visible... well... that open-matting for ya.

Perhaps it's just the weird combination of your player and receiver. Not necessarily either of the components faults, but when paired together, they don't want to play nicely when watching the Star Wars movies.

I've read a lot of the books that surround the OT and the books after that, Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy.

sorry, i wasnt callin u a fanboy
i was callin the guy who said I was OCD one.

but honestly, I've had 0 problems with anomalies/lines on any of the blu rays, even older movies like Days of Heaven and Alien/Aliens and 2001 with 1:1

and it even says in the TV manual that 1:1 is preferred for HDMI connection...

im pretty sure most people use 1:1.... overscanning is for old tube and projection tvs.

Really? Hmph... surprise me, this does

I guess you've refuted everything I said in my first reply

Funny thing is, I'm (mildly ) OCD, and this doesn't really bother me... go figure

However, I have the paint chip problem on my discs, and that bugs the hell outta me LOL

So I will hopefully be exchanging my set tomorrow

Yes, it is really distracting now.
I just finished ANH, and I have to agree that I found these magenta flashes incredibly distracting.

On the whole, I find the color timing of these 2004 masters to be really harsh in some places.

I put in A New Hope a few hours ago and the audio didn't work on it. I unplugged my HDMI and put it back in, nothing. Finally, I turned my system on and off a couple times and it came back. It was weird and I hope it doesn't happen again

a friend of mine bought the saga and I was at his place the other day watching ROTS. Undeniably awesome PQ. My jaw was hanging for the majority of the run time. Audio wasn't as hard hitting but hearing Battle Of The Heroes (my favorite SW theme) in lossless blew my f'ing mind. The movie is still as mediocre as ever but it certainly is a treat in terms of eye and ear candy.

On the 2004 DVD's, it's still "tell uncle". The "your" wasn't there on the 5.1 or 2.0 track.

It's alternate angles of the crawl for other languages. User prohibited options are probably disallowing you from changing the angle. If you change the language in the pop-up menu it should switch to the angle for that language.

Could be, Kirsh does talk about how he would often only do one take in the Archival Commentary.

Why would I want to watch a Blu-ray with some of the image being overscanned off the screen? Overscan isn't needed anymore, and studios should be cropping and matting artifacts like this out of frame as it's a defect in the transfer.

Well just watch IV & V in my HT (65" Panasonic plasma) and I have to tell ya I was pretty impressed by both PQ and AQ, especially the audio. Great bass. It's funny, but the changes are just SO obvious if you a truly a fan of the films. They just stick out like sore thumbs I think because after having watched them so many times you sort of develop an internal rhythm for the dialogue and the editing, as if you know what's coming next and bingo! some strange line or scene that makes you say huh? Glad I still have the original unaltered THX lasers.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but WTF is up with Obi-Wan's beard in Attack of the Clones?

Some scenes looks like his real facial hair and in that SAME scene he has 'make up' beard that looks all patchy and ridiculous. Never noticed before, was quite distracting, everytime he was on screen i was checking it if was real or fake beard lol.

But seriously what happened? Were there some reshoots and Mcgregor didn't have time to regrow that beard?
