Exactly. And I am pretty sure that Luca$ has erased Mister Shaw from ROTJ just because he said in an interview that Luca$ has stopped inviting him in any star Wars convention, and that he found this not very respectful.

You didn't appear to understand their purpose. Given your comments.

It's for lightsaber training. Did you imagine some scene where Anakin in TPM was wearing one?

Or the Younglings in RotS? Or when Ben told Luke he had to keep the helmet on in ANH?

Or perhaps people who dislike the PT truly see things the way they are, and people who like the PT look for things to justify liking it...

*Checks return of the Jedi* Nope. There's Sebastian Shaw during the unmasking. And look, there's his name in the credits! Guess he wasn't erased from RotJ. The change to the ghost was made to fit the mythology of the films. And you realize that Lucas doesn't run the Star Wars conventions right? And the person who's no longer invited to official Star Wars promotional things is David Prowse, the person who burned his bridges with Lucasfilm for leaking things.

Not really. Cause you could nitpick the hell out of any movie. Including the OT. But rose colored glasses and pedestals prevent that.

You mean like yourself and the Coke-bottle thickness rose-colored glasses that you see TPM through? I'm no optical physicist, but I'm not sure how any light at all can go through the 3cm of tinted glass required to see TPM in a favorable light...

Rose-Colored Glasses don't work that way. They're a nostalgia thing. I loved the movie from the first viewing.

And if I saw all of Star Wars that way, I wouldn't find A New Hope to be the weakest film. With AoTC's just above that.

Hey guys, miss me?!

Looks like the conversation hasn't changed one iota.

I dug into the special features a bit the other day. I dunno what people were griping about, the Spoofs are great. The "Star Warriors" doc was awesome, too.

Which coincidentally is the absolute maximum age of anyone who will buy tickets to see TPM-3D...

Heh. It's funny how many people end up enjoying that feature.

Considering that was the one that so many seemed to hate ahead of time.

I just wish we could have got an updated version that included the R2-KT story.

Nope. Gotta keep those previous DVDs for stuff like that. Much like 90% of the extras.

Nope. Here's one fan's analysis of what you need to keep (or get if you don't have yet...)

Prequel Trilogy:
Single-movie 2-DVD releases or the 2008 6-DVD thinpak boxset.
If you really want the theatrical cut of TPM, there's the US Collector's Edition VHS box, the US VHS regular edition, and Japanese Laserdisc to choose from.

Original Trilogy:
- Unaltered versions: Either the 1989 "Special Widescreen Collection" LDs, 1993 "Definitive Collection" LD Boxset, 1995 THX "Faces" LDs, or the 2006 LE single-movie 2-DVD releases (which was re-released in a 6-DVD thinpak box in 2008). The 1993 "Definitive Collection" has a large amount of extras, including interviews with George Lucas, Ben Burtt, and Dennis Muren; also includes a 200-page hardcover book.
- 1997 Special Editions: Either the VHS "Limited Edition Collector's Set" or the LD boxset. The regular VHS box doesn't have the "Making of the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition" 30-min featurette.
- 2004 Versions: Either the 2004 4-DVD boxset w/ bonus features disc or get the 2006 Ltd. Ed. single-movie 2-DVD releases (or 2008 thinpak box) + buy the 2004 bonus features disc on eBay. The "Empire of Dreams" documentary on the bonus disc is very worthwhile.

Other Content:
- From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga: 1983 documentary; several pressings of this exist on US VHS and Japanese LD.
- R2-D2: Beneath the Dome: 20-min "mockumentary" DVD from 2002.
- The Story of Star Wars: 60-minute retrospective on the lives of Luke and Anakin covering Episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6; hosted by C-3PO and R2-D2. Included in a side-by-side two-pack w/ ROTS DVD (Walmart exclusive.)
- Star Wars: A Musical Journey: Included w/ Episode III Soundtrack.

"Unofficial" DVDs
Star Wars Holiday Special (The "KCCI Edition" is the best one available)
Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed (2007 History Channel documentary, never released commercially)
Rowman's "The Definitive Laserdiscs Extras" DVD (only if you don't have the 1993 "Definitive Collection" LD boxset.)

hmmmm, I would probably give you a point if and I mean if out of every 5 posts in this thread it wasn't about people complaining how much they hate them, they really seem to have a serious hobby at hating them

Still, Luca$ is a horrible screenwriter.
As opposed to a terrible poster who gets the facts wrong (see below):

Shaw wasn't erased, his performance as the dying unmasked Vader (you know, where he actually acted and had lines) is still there.

As far as the "convention" invites, you know that it was David Prowse who was banned due to continually badmouthing Lucas and LucasFilm, starting way back in 1977 when he learned James Earl Jones was dubbing Vader's voice. For all your "$$$" Lucas is known to treat his cast and crew with very, very well.

But don't let those pesky facts get in the way of your hate.
