Yeah, I find that hard to believe, myself.

And even if Beast's statement about this is accurate (which I highly doubt), how and where would one get such statistics as this? Did he sit down while watching the movie at some point and count each and every line that each character says? Or is there some other website out there that tracks and posts these statistics?

And what is the basis for what counts as a single "line"? Is it each individual sentence, or can a series of sentences be considered a single line until when/if it is interrupted by another character speaking? Does the amount of words in each line account for anything? I would think it's at least theoretically possible for one character in a movie to have more "lines" in a movie than another, but those lines might be much shorter and made of fewer words, thus resulting in fewer total words (and therefore shorter accumulated speaking time) for the character with the larger number of "lines".

Now, I don't really care about the actual answers to these questions because that's neither here nor there for the point that I am making. I am merely asking them to illustrate how highly questionable the statement is in the first place. This seems to be the kind of random crap that Beast often pulls from nowhere and typically has nothing to back it up. "Christopher Lee has the most lines". Really? "A lot" of lines I could understand (even though the point about him being "underwritten" had nothing to do specifically with the quantity of lines that he had in the first place... way to miss the point there), since that's not making a specific statement on how his number of lines compares to that of other characters.

I haven't done a count to double check. But Christopher Lee makes the statement on the Archival Commentary for AotCs.

I don't buy the "He doesn't like to transfer over old extras..." argument, because I have never heard Lucas actually say that. Also I think the PT released on DVD was just the same dvds from before put in a new box? Oh, and the OT DVDs had the same audio commentary as before, just included the UOT as bonus discs. My guess is he just wanted all the material to be new this time around.
I don't think Lucas has such a policy either. He obviously doesn't carry over extras from set to set within the same format(reasonable) but I think the lack of carried-over extras from format to format had more to do with space limitations when it came to VHS and DVD. On the new BD set, the fact that they only carried over 3 of the 4 classic docs and left off the VHS/LD/DVD extras just stems from poor decision making and shortsightedness, in my opinion.

For me, the biggest shortcomings would be the lack of "From Star Wars to Jedi", "Empire of Dreams", "The Beginning", the PT deleted scenes, and the OT/PT trailers.

I agree that what we did get was good overall. It's what we didn't get and the ease at which it could have been included that I found extremely disappointing. One extra disc and going with a BD-50 for Disc 8 could have carried over everything. Then, it could have been the closest you can get to a definitive set, short of including the UOT. This set, while nice, is hardly anything close to definitive.

Yeah, the PT box from '08 was the three two-disc sets combined and the '06 OT two-disc sets/'08 OT box were the '04 DVD's with the UOT included on the second disc. The commentaries from all six film DVD's carried over to the Blu-rays.

If he said it; then it must be true! Dude, he was a supporting character in the film for maybe 15 minutes total. The chances of 'Count Dookie' having more lines than 'Little Orphean Annie "My heart burns for you!" Skywalker' or 'Pandabear' is beyond crazy.

I will give you one thing though, he probably had better lines than anyone in that turd of a movie. But more lines? Nah.

Anyway, going to watch ROTS tomorrow night. I head the audio is low on it or something. Apparently the audio only goes to 10. The other films go to 11, ya know.

the lightsaber scenes in ANH look like crap, especially the one on the falcon. the color was inconsistent to start with and the sfx is just crap. of all the things they should have fixed, THIS has to be one of them and they missed it

Sure you can. This thread is proof of it.

Just watched the Star Warriors doc, good stuff. I thought it was just all the local California garrisons showed up and
[Show spoiler]didn't realize the troopers all auditioned and were flown in from all over the world and then had to do marching training for 3 days
. Impressive. I know some of my local group and they do good things for charity.

I've always wanted to ask a group of people and this board'll do - were any of you fooled by the queen decoys (especially the first one) in TPM and surprised by the queen reveal scene? I was into the movie and not looking for any errors per se, it just sort of popped out at me that the queen I saw meeting the other characters was not the same person/queen I had seen on the viewscreen scene a few minutes earlier. It was kind of easy to spot the decoy after that. Didn't ruin the movie for me, just sort of wondered when the other characters would catch on
[Show spoiler]that Padme was the queen
. Qui-Gon seemed to catch on as they left the ship to go to the pod race. So I was amused more than surprised at the big queen reveal.

The problem is that you seem to see people discussing the films as a personal attack.

Yes. If I went to sleep with Natalie Portman and woke up with Keira Knightley, I wouldn't know the difference until I had a cup of coffee.

I wasn't surprised by the big reveal scene, though, I was surprised to see Portman as "Padme" when they get to Tattooine, since I thought that was her in the makeup.

I was very surprised. The thought of Amidala having a decoy never occurred to me. The first time through, I was completely immersed in the story. After the reveal, I thought Natalie had just done both roles, and ILM used trickery to blend them together. It wasn't until a few years later, when I heard that Keira Knightley was the decoy, that I went back and checked. Now, the difference is almost glaring, but I doubt newcomers would notice as much. People say they look almost like twins, and there's some times where I can see it, but not many.

The action figures sorta ruined the reveal of Padme being the Queen to me.

But I think for the most part in the film you really don't notice the swaps due to the face make-up.

Okay, this is really random, but, I was watching AotC again. The scene at the start of the film where the B-52 bomber aka Queens heli-carrier or whatever the hell....flies into Corusant. I wanted to tweak my subs as the bass on that is crazy. As I listen to the scene play out, the decoy dies in her place because they expected an attempt on the Queens life. As the decoy is dying she tells the Queen, "I've failed You". WTF? Her whole purpose of being was to protect the Queen and defend or die in her place, so, position fulfilled. What a dumbass pointless line of dialog that was. As I've watched the PT again I have to admit it is written very poorly. That no doubt had an affect on the actors as I've seen them all in other films and they were great, including Hayden Christensen. The only actor I have no fault with in the PT is Liam Neeson. I think he was awesome.

Just a note, but Padme was no longer Queen at that point. And was now just a Senator at the time of AotCs.

And her response is most likely from the standpoint that she was dying, and no longer would be around to protect Padme.

Plus Corde's death also exposed the fact that Padme used a Decoy when traveling as a measure to prevent such attacks.

It felt pretty much like your typical body guard reaction to me. So it made sense to me from that standpoint.

Clearly both Captain Typho and Padme both felt she did her duty given their comments after that line.

Beast, I'm not trying to come down on you here, but, even you have to admit that that was a dumbass line to utter as a reaction to what just happened. I could see it if it was the Queen dying and the decoy somehow wasn't able to protect her and then the decoy saying she failed would make sense in those circumstances. However, that's not how the scene plays out.

I don't agree. It felt perfectly natural coming from a bodyguard who was dying... and would no longer be able to do her duty.

Plus it did reveal that Padme used a decoy for traveling purposes. Since Zam Wesell makes note of it to Jango a short time later.

Okay, I agree to disagree. However, I went back and reread the edits to your post and can kinda see the point you make, but, something about the whole "feel" of that scene is just off to me. To me, IMO it makes no sense.
