I can see it now...

The saber cauterized him. Stoping him from losing much blood, and at the bottom of that shaft was a garbage chute. Into which both halfs slid into safely, and he was collected by Palps and stitched back together

Simples.

The movies stand on their own anyway. When I watch the occasional Clone Wars Episode then the movies are part of that world - but when I watch the movies they are one entity where no Tv-Show or Expanded Universe stuff has a place in. As far as I'm concerned Anakin meets Grievous in Episode III for the first time and he doesn't meet Dooku between Episode 1 and 2 - and Darth Maul is dead! As is Boba Fett for that matter!

It's a clear decision by Lucasfilm to push the Episode I characters (especially Darth Maul as he's a fan favourite) in the wake of the 3D-release. I guess they will clone Maul for the TV-show. I can't see how he could have survived any other way...

I also think the original Phantom Menace poster was much classier. But it makes sense to emphasize the Pod Race and Darth Maul/Lightsaber Battle on the 3-D poster. Since that's the two major scenes which are going to rock the most in 3-D. I'm just glad the trailer is hitting. I may actually have to see Three Musketeers now, even though I wasn't really interested in it. But I really really want to see that trailer. Can't wait for February.

I showed this poster to some people, who have no clue about SW. The said to me a couple of things:

- What's the name of the movie? (LFL could just disting the name STAR WARS from TPM and EPI - maybe use famous yellow SW title?)

- What is the movie about? They said it does look like some cartoon and they think this satanic guy is the main protagonist.

- It's great that Natalie Portman is there, but I have to shown them that, because the letters are too small.

Personally, I think LFL should have used famous actors (Portman, McGregor, Neeson, maybe McDiarmid) on the poster, write their names with big letters, use SW yellow title with big 3D, make it less cartoony using less colors and get those podracers, yodas etc. out. This how you do this nowdays and I see nothing negative in complaining about it.

This just looks like a bad, half-assed fan-made photoshop poster. Even the text just doesn't flow very well. It looks like it's made of random, different fonts that don't really work well together (at least now the way that they are layed out and sized here).

It is just very poorly executed on many levels. This whole "people will always find something to complain about" crap has to stop. Many of the gripes about the films, themselves, and about this poster are more than legitimate.

Maybe George's daughter picked out the artwork for this one like she did for the Blu-rays too.

Come on.
I don't think "everything" sucks, just things that suck.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly? Awesome. Pulp Fiction? Awesome. Fight Club? Awesome. LA Confidential? Awesome. Taxi Driver? Awesome. Dog Day Afternoon? Awesome. Goodfellas? Awesome. The Empire Strikes Back? Awesome.

The ugly Phantom Menace 3D poster? Ugly. Awful.

Yeah, it's much better than the original.
I'm sorry, but the new poster is uninteresting and horrendous, it has no flow and it's too 'metallic'. Not only does Maul's lightsaber looks fake, Yoda looks (like someone said) bored, and Obi-Wan seems as if he was forced (no pun intended) to pose.

Now, as a 3D poster it might work because of the pods flying over Maul and Obi-Wan behind him, but the only good thing that the poster has is Palpatine on the back. It's like a 'cover' of a product. Shame.

Aren't you complaining now, too?

And no offense, but this complaint is definitely legitimate. The original poster looked amazing (Lucas thought so too, because he used it everywhere) that this is just a giant step down. I can understand the need to differentiate the new version from the old one, but couldn't he have used some nice artwork? And not something that was made by someone using Photoshop for five minutes.
And also, if you can't complain without doing it better, there would be really little to actually legitimately complain about. Don't you ever think a movie is bad?

The poster seems to be a common complaint. Heck, even Shaft Windu is complaining about it, and he's typically kissing George's butt at every possible turn.

Additionally, it's not "everyone" complaining about "everything". Yes, some bigger issues get a larger volume of complaints. But then there are a lot of smaller complaints that each only have a small handful of people really rallying behind any one of them. But there can be a number of these at any given time, with different people being upset over one issue but not carring about another, etc. The problem is that you take all of these things, lump them together, and act like everyone is complaining about everything, when in reality it's not as bad as you assume it to be.

That poster is funny, but it's doing its job exactly. There has already been doubts from LF that if the movies aren't popular, they'll just stop here at I. This poster may be artistically bankrupt, but look what it's telling viewers. Hey remember Episode I? Yeah, now it's in 3d! Pod racing and the Darth Maul duel in 3d! Awesome right!

That's the stuff people most will be going for anyway, it's best to milk that. Even folks who profess their hate for the prequels (but have tickets pre-ordered) will use the excuse of those action scenes in 3d being worth it all.

They may as well just have have create a highlight reel for all six movies with all new footage. Two hours of Star Wars' greatest hits! Call it Star Wars In Concert! In 3D!

End it with the Trench Run and everyone goes home happy.

I couldn't care less about the poster or the new 3-D version of TPM. I have the Complete Saga on blu-ray in
glorious 1080p High Definition with 6.1 DTS HD Master audio , and that's good enough for me.

They are many people who have no clue about SW. As I mentioned earlier, they should try to target this people. Just DO a little more mature poster, with famous actors (especially Portman, she is so famous now! Use this!), less cartoony look and that's all.

But it's typical George Lucas. He could never use the actors for some advantage. He always struggled at that. For him the actors are just tools. But, I am not complaining. He admitted himself that he can't work with them.

Personally, I think it is a big mistake that they try to target the fans only. But it is how LFL does everything nowdays. They are happy with 1 milion fans, instead of 2 milions new people.

Star Wars is not famous as it once was. Yes, it is still famous, but not as much. Thanks to the minimum effort from LFL.
