If anything he deserves credit for showing restraint with the OT computer displays.

They're obviously ridiculously antiquated now but at the time those wire-frames weren't just cutting edge tech but were also really freaking cool.

Tampering with them would have been terrible.

The old computer animations of the Death Star plans in ANH are dated, and that's a legitimate gripe, but at the same time they still look a bit like digitized blueprints (which is what they were).

Despite that, you have to admit that the Death Star animation at the Rebel briefing in Return of the Jedi still looks great by today's special effects standards.

They were relatively simple vector graphics. Back them getting it into the middle of the room in the shot was the trick.

Well it does make more sense in the Revisited version (Adywan), where the briefing looks like the Episode 2 hologram, but still retains the original work put into it (and also fits better with the VI version, which still looks great).

I believe George Lucas mentioned something to that effect in one of the '04 DVD documentaries.

This is 79.99 on bestbuy.com. I know I said I'd never pick it up but the Force is not strong with me. With tax season around the corner I have no opposition to forking out 80 bucks for it. Dammit.

I thought ANH looked more impressive than ESB, but maybe that is because it is a generally lighter film (both in content and visuals and it is easier to make up small facial details and it was the first OT film I saw of the Blu Rays.

this set is still way to expensive....just look at LOTR...$49,99 for 6 blu's and 9dvd's,i admitt most of the dvd's are repacked but not all!
furthermore, the LOTR PQ and AQ is spot on,wich one cant say of PM and AOTC...,AQ tough is super on all 6,watched them a while ago, just awesome clarity,bass...
ill jump on the set like a wild cat when it's at $49,99,i can wait....

I bought my LoTR EEs for $39.99 CAD
I bought SW on day one however I had $15 of best buy rewards so it brought the price down.

I'd buy the Star Wars set at full MSRP before I bought the Lord Of The Rings set at 90% off. Yeah, that's how much I detest the Rings trilogy and how much I love Star Wars.

Why even buy LOTR for any price if you hate it so much?

Ahh crap. I misread the I'd as "I did" instead of "I would". Oops.

6 blus= 3 films and 9 DVD's copied straight from the previous EE DVD box compared to 9 Blus = 6 films and 3 bonus discs with mostly new material. And FOTR also receiver a fair share of criticism due to it's video transfer, with a green tint and black crush.

So no, I fail to see why the LOTR box is a better value than the Star Wars one.
Especially when I see on the price on Amazon UK, 40 pounds (LOTR) vs 50 pounds.

I paid 5 bucks more for this on amazon rather than going to Best Buy. It would be pretty much the same but no taxes is always a win. Surprisingly enough they shipped it overnight instead of the Prime standard 2 day so it will be in my hands this afternoon.

Default Boxed set cardboard

Sorry if this has already been covered, but does anyone worry about the discs getting scratched when removing and replacing the discs in these cardboard blu ray books?

Some people were worried about it, though it doesn't seem to have resulted in actual disc errors. Do look for missing paint on the BD's and skipping on the Attack of the Clones, there were some complaints on that for the American version.
