Apparently in 1999 (after Episode 1) he released a now rare & out of print CD with tons of artwork, posters, etc, and an interview with George Lucas.

I would love to get a hold of that one day... so cool! It's a shame, apparently he lost a lot of money on making that CD. These days he could release something digitally easily, with little to no investment.

If anyone has that CD... oh man... I'd love to take a peek!

However it would be lame if 1) they didn't release steelbooks for the 3rd trilogy or 2) the box format was different and they didn't look nice next to each other but you never know!

Default The Star Wars Saga is a timetravel adventure!

I recently watched the BTTF trilogy again, and when Doc Brown was explaining to Marty, that there is an alternate reality of 1985 (or whatever it was), which is only different for them, but totally normal for everyone else, it hit me, that

The Star Wars Saga fits the bill perfectly:

George Lucas started in the middle, with Episodes IV, V, and VI, and those were the ones we knew for all those years.

(Let's ignore the SE in this case)

Then he went back to the past to make Episodes I, II, and III, which in turn, also altered IV, V, and VI accordingly, as the past was re-written, so was the reality of Episodes IV, V, and VI!

Therefore, it's perfectly logical to see Hayden Christensen as the force ghost in Ep. VI, for example. What was done in the past, which in earth time, was after the appearance of the latter episodes, affected the future, namely Ep. IV, V, and VI, which were done before the past was altered.

I had never thought of it this way. This is pretty neat IMO.

What do you think?

It still doesn't make any sense and Hayden still looks creepy.

I think you whacked-out theory is logically inconsistent, unless George Lucas somehow can travel through time. Then you would be onto something.

I am not trying to rationalize any "mistakes" at all. I just think it's an interesting way to look at it.

Obi Wan did all of the drugs. That is why he doesn't seem to remember anything from the prequels during the OT.

This explanation would only make sense if actual time travel occurred somewhere in the Star Wars movies. As it doesn't, this explanation is rendered moot.

Plus I really don't like the idea of using my favorite blockbuster movie trilogy (BTTF) to explain away the problems with one of the worst blockbuster movies trilogies (the SW PT) and the crapped over versions of what used to be one of the greatest movie trilogies ever (the SW OT).

The only unfortunate bit to that is the trilogy box sets contain almost no extras.

With Episode VII in the works, I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere down the road we get individual releases. Same thing was done for Jurassic Park this year and Lord of the Rings last year.

So definitive answer needed: Fox still owns the rights to the original Star Wars, thus Disney cant release an unaltered trilogy version on Blu Ray.

Is this assessment correct? Has Disney mentioned anything recently?

Otherwise i just may grab the Complete Saga set when it goes on sale. CHANGES BE DAMNED
