I seem to have discovered that one of the novel series had to be redacted, the Jedi Prince series. But I remember the first novels I caught onto were the Han Solo novels that Del Rey originally published back in the 70's. Han Solo at Stars' End and that lot. It wasn't until Timothy Zahn came along and gave us "Heir to the Empire" that I started reading those novels once again.

I just decided to start reading these novels again starting with han Solo and the Lost Legacy and working my way through the original trilogy novels. I think those interest me more than the prequel trilogy novels.

But, I'll give those Young Jedi Novels from Scholastic a try then ... after I get through these Han Solo novels. lols

Hmm. They recently took all of those black and white novels and colorized them. They're really quite fantastic, and you should look into those versions, as they are superior.

Are they worth reading at all because I've never really considered Scholastic to be a valued source of Star Wars reading.

I just needed someone's honest opinion on this since I started reading Han Solo and the Lost Legacy and I have the entire library of Star Wars novels on my mobile device. Hopefully, someone can give me some impressions about the Scholastic series.

Watched the blu ray of A New Hope on a 47 inch last night and noticed a blueish/greenish line on the right side of the screen, it is most noticeable during the desert scenes, anyone else notice this or is it just on my copy?

Also is it just me that finds the PQ quite ropey? It looks artificially sharpened in places and kind of blown out/too contrasty.

Idk if I have noticed that or not, but I did notice during Return of the Jedi when the Victory Celebration starts and we are taken across the galaxy to see different planets, right before we switch from Tatoonie to Naboo, a greenish/bluish looking line appears at the bottom of the screen as we switch to Naboo, I know it wasn't there in the 2004 DVDs, this may have been addressed already but since you mentioned about lines and stuff, I thought I'd might mention it!

BTW: I did look, and idk what desert scenes you are talking about, I've looked at almost every one and haven't found what you have described.

It is first noticeable in the scene where Luke first meets Obi Wan.

The Blu-Ray is unfortunately taken from an old, outdated 2K scan with questionable colour correction, crushed blacks and frozen grain and yes there's a bit of edge enhancement on it too.

It's still the best the film has ever looked though on home video and I'm glad that the lightsaber and soundtrack cock-ups that were present on the DVD were fixed.

The soundtrack sounds awful on the DVD.

The Empire Strikes Back is my personal favourite out of the six films.

Imo it definitely has the best acting and music out of the entire series. I also love the dark, gritty tone of the film as well.

Yes, I am still shocked that Lucas didn't add a song and dance number to Empire when he had the chance.

Lol, imagine if he added a dance number to the Battle Of Hoth. You see Stormtroopers from out of nowhere start singing and dancing whilst casually killing Rebel soldiers. That actually sounds like quite a good idea for a parody XD.

In all seriousness, it's probably due to the fact that The Empire Strikes Back is Lucas' least favourite Star Wars film. It's had the least amount of tinkering out the Original Trilogy, which is great.

Agreed and Empire really expanded and opened up the initial Star Wars universe we came to know.

Seeing for the first time Hoth, Dagobah, Cloud City, and inside of a Star Destroyer were huge.

Opening up the moral universe was even bigger...how would Luke react to Han and Leia's love affair, how would Luke respond to Vader's revelation. The clear moral universe of the first film suddenly became complicated, and the new worlds reflected that story.

Agreed, the Star Wars universe was really opened up in The Empire Strikes Back compared to the first/fourth film.

We can only hope it happens regarding what Hunt said.^

And if it does happen, let's further hope they re-capture the original color timing. This is crucial.

Do you mean besides removing the blue bias introduced by Lowry's rushed restoration, the fact that ANH itself had more of a warmer, slightly green shift in its original theatrical exhibition?

Because I'd love that.

I guess I'll be spending another $100 on these films by the time 2015 comes around.

I just bought the original trilogy for £13.99, I would sell that off in a heartbeat if the unaltered films get a release.
