I should probably have my sanity checked for saying this in a Star Wars thread, but I'm not sure I want the prequel set. I need to think it over, but that seems like a great price to me anyway.

Yeah, I think we all need our sanity checked. I can pretty much guarantee these won't last long at this price. Anyway, good luck.

They are blowing these out before Disney announces their release of the Unaltered Trilogy nine disc box set next month.

Thanks.

EDIT: FWIW, I caved and ordered the complete set ... due to wanting the 3 special features discs ... and the sale price.

I really wish they would at least do new scans of the current SE originals. They are really looking their age (10 yrs old) compared to true remasters such as Blade Runner, Alien, E.T. Jaws, Indiana Jones - no need to go on.

They might not look as good as those, but I watched ESB again a little while ago, and I was much more impressed with the PQ then I was previously. I think they have all aged reasonably well. They aren't from the top shelf, but I'm satisfied with them.

They're passable, but not much more. To my perception ESB is perhaps the best of the bunch, of those shot on film. But these transfers are from the home of THX — not really Lucasfilm walking its talk, is it?

And then you have the latter two prequels, which, from my understanding, could never receive the same kind of remaster because they weren't shot on film.

Specifically, it's because both films are 1080p at the source.

I wonder why Lucas was so insistent on that.

Because he wanted to be "first out the gate" and not have to wait until the technology caught up.

Tough to beat $10 per movie and then the extra 3 discs for free.

As mentioned, they are passable at best and most certainly upgrades over the DVDs. It's just that with movies like these you would hope for something top notch in quality. I do think the audio is very impressive on them given the source.

Empire does seem to look the best of the three and has more stable color. A New Hope and even Jedi has weird looking skin tones at times.

It's $10. Not sure what the issue is. It's your money but what if it turns around and goes back to $89+? I never understood people who hold out on things over a few dollars. Like I said, it's your money, but I would hate for you to miss out on a great set over $10.

My price point was always $50 but I broke down and got it from Deep Discount a few weeks ago for $57.26 plus tax. If I had not bought then I would probably break down and get this for what amounts to only about $3 more.

I ordered the OT from gohastings for $15. Too good of a deal to pass up, even though it's still the far inferior Special Editions.
