It's always astounding how people justify stealing or cheating. Gray area, lol.

Illegal is illegal. Doesn't matter if you use a sharing website to download one song by a struggling composer or the movies by a billionaire director now owned by a hundred billion dollar corporation. Doesn't matter if they sue, can't sue, or choose not to care. Stealing is stealing.

Black/White/Black/White or the opposite way, I can't check my set as it is in Storage.

The only changes I remember from this set were:
Jedi - The first time the Jedi Temple was seen in Jedi.
Empire - Removed Luke's '97 Edition Yell.

Also, it was again in a SlipBox, but had a Clear Plastic Sleeve.
I've got the VHS and JPN LD boxsets of the EpII re-release trilogy. They're exactly the same as the 1997 versions. You say you can't check your set, how about I check mine?

Just dusted off the old VHS deck. I checked for Luke's scream in Empire and for the Jedi Temple in Coruscant celebration scene in the 2000 re-releases as pictured below. They're exactly the same as the 1997 versions.

Anyone want any other VHS versions checked to see if their memory is playing tricks on them? (Badass Executor boxset not pictured)

funny thing about Luke's scream, is it's the emperor's scream from Jedi.

on the flip side, I'm confident that one day Disney will release the unaltered trilogy. Lucas can't say no anymore since giving up his ownership of sorts.
All we have to do is listen to Obi-Wan "Patience"

Actually since I'd assume the PQ would be better than the current discs, if they somehow couldn't put out the original versions, I'd go for the '97 Special Editions on blu-ray. I'm guessing that whatever masters were used for the 2004 dvd versions and the 2011 blu-rays, that the special editions were the basis for them, so maybe if they went back to them the PQ would be better.

Speaking of listening to Obi-Wan let's hope they get rid of the awful dragon call in IV and go back to the original.

Fourth time's the charm. The original was perfect, the 2004 edition had that siren-type sound and I don't what the **** that was in the 2011 version. I'd love to have the original sound put back, even if it is the same as the Dewback's call. Another win for the '97 edition!

The call on the BD is passable, barely. The main problem is that the sound is obviously edited in. It just doesn't fit at all.

On the BD it sounds like someone got kicked in the balls.

I remember reading somewhere on-line saying the 2011 version sounded like Richard Simmons getting hit in the balls.

I am not going to get into the whole stealing is stealing debate but I will say this - you are allowed to make a back-up copy of movies, cd, etc in most countries for your own use - ripping to mp3 or making a mobile copy for example. However, downloading Phantom Edit is not the same as it is not a back-up of Phantom Menace. Rappers got in trouble for "sampling" songs and not paying for them, this isn't very different. Any alternation changes it because if you had access to that version to begin with, you wouldn't need that alternate version would you? But it is up to the studios to enforce things too as if you let things slide, that is where the grey area comes into play. Lucas Film has allowed and encourages these sort of things so you can't say it is stealing straight out as they know and don't do anything about it.
