See, I really don't agree with this.

Overall I have not seen someone simply expressing liking something that is generally disliked in and of itself being something that has resulted in contentious anger being spewed towards that individual.

The problem stems from many of the people who like most/all of the changes and/or prequels often complaining about the complainers, saying how they are wrong, defending Lucas to the point of saying that his "artistic rights" trump everything else and that those who are hate the changes and/or prequels don't "deserve" to have the UOT released (I guess ironically meaning that if people were over the moon about the changes and newer films, then they would deserve to have them released, even though in such a scenario they wouldn't really be asking for it? ).

Go back and look at past conversations, especially leading up to and during the release of these films. Rarely was it a case of, "I happen to like this, but totally understand where you are coming from in your complaints." Instead the positive statements are often made in a manner of contention towards those who disagree with them.

If someone like the prequels, fine. If they think the changes to the OT are great, good for them. These things exist regardless of people's opinion, so I guess it's good that someone is enjoying them.

But all those who dislike these things really want at this point it the UOT released. While those who feel that way would have preferred that the changes and prequels not have been made to begin with, overall no one is saying that those things should go away and be suppressed. Rather, they just want the UOT released, too. It is what it is, and it's not going to change.

Eh, to most people the Internet is pretty magical. Those who know the nuts and bolts of it think of it differently. Same with the Force. Since Midi-chlorians don't exist in real life they're still somewhat magic. It's tilts SW more towards Sci-Fi than Fantasy. I can understand why people are upset by it, but I also understand why Lucas wanted a more technical approach to why things are in the SW universe. One reason why I really hope they don't do a Doctor Strange Marvel movie. To this point the MCU has been pretty technical.

Well, it's been kind of explained as Asgardian technology and tricks/illusions Frigga taught him. Even then, it's a stretch and the Thor series stands out differently than the other films. Some people are wondering about how Guardians of the Galaxy will do since apparently none of it takes place on Earth (and Rocket of course).

Let's be realistic here: Fact is, this, and pretty much every other SW thread in existence on here, is primarily negative and full of whining.
It really is a chore to check by here from time to time, because there is almost nothing but bickering and name-calling.
The reason I still come by once in a while is simply because I feel the need to even it out at least somewhat, otherwise newbies would think EVERYONE hates the SE and the prequels with a passion, and that just isn't true.
In fact, most people I know, who didn't grow up with the UOT, prefer the SE and the prequels, and say they are so much better.
I only wish for peace, but it doesn't seem feasible with so much hatred going on.
Many UOT fanboys have literally gone over to the dark side, so they haven't learned anything from the message of the films.
Search your feelings, and you'll know it to be true.

I am very happy with the BD set, as it features the films in the best quality we have ever seen, and the only one I would want a remaster for is TPM.
The audio is fantastic all around, as are the special features, although the lack of trailers in HD as well as the original prequel special features are quite disappointing, but nothing I won't survive.
We have been given tons of other extras instead, and they are terrific, for the most part.

Peace out

I had to do a search of my own posts to figure out wat the hell you were even talking about. The thing in the Ghostbusters thread was just me making a general point about packaging preferences and I had forgotten all about it prior to searching for it now. Of all disagreements that I've had with you over the course of time and that I've seen you have with other's, that was nothing.

At any rate, I went ahead and edited my earlier post tobremove the particular comment of contention that I made and deleted the follow up post explaining further. What you choose to do with the posts that you've made in reply is up to you.

Though I do have to laugh at the irony of you basically dictating what people should not be posting about, even going so far as to state that it's the same handful of people, and then not being able to handle a similar criticism aimed at yourself.

Oh, it's very much Lucas who went to the dark side. See my post a page back outlining exactly that.

At any rate, people like what they like. I'm not faulting people for enjoying the PT or updated OT. But at least you have those editions on Blu-Ray. The best legit copies of the UOT available are laserdisc masters dumped onto DVDs in a half assed manner. So don't expect the complaining to remotely subside until that is recified.

I would like the originals on Blu as well. I would buy them release day. I really would. I'm a completest, and also want the 1997 versions on there too. Basically like Blade Runner.

As far as the DVDs, I think they look ok for what the source was (and for what they were: just get them out and be done with it). They certainly scale better on a large TV than the LDs I have and have a lot of the pressing related video noise cleaned up. Yes, they're letterboxed 4x3 and not anamorphic, but that's how the last master was.

Do the laserdiscs have that awful motion lag, too? Because that's what makes the DVDs completely unwatchable, not the poor resolution.

How so? He did what he wanted to do, and that's his right.
I see no problem.
Your posts are usually as long as the bible, and I really have better things to do with my time. Sorry.

Well, I understand that, but many behave like it's the end of the world as we know it. Maybe you guys should complain where it might actually help, not here, where we want to discuss the BD release.
