Those other two are fine choices, however.
Their art for Luke and Leia was a bit dodgy, but I found the rest of the poster outstanding. The Japanese poster by "Seito" is rather similar (and has a better-defined Luke and Leia), but some some reason the rest of it isn't as charming to me.

Star Wars - Seito (Japanese poster)

Yeah it's nice, but my second choice would have to be the UK quad by Josh Kirby.

Then again, anything would be better than the 1985 re-release poster by Tom Jung...

Cool pic!
As the original theatrical versions of SW, ESB, and ROTJ were the ones I grew up
With, these are the versions I want to see. I've bought the 2004 and 2011 DVDs/ BDs, and I simply can't get into them. As far as I'm concerned,
If Warner, who owns DC/Batman can work it out with Fox, to get Batman 66-68
Released, so can Disney who owns LFL/SW, work out a deal with Fox on the Original Unaltered Trilogy. Day 1 purchase for me!!!

Hey, I would love the original versions of the originals on BD, but I just don't see that happening. Fox owns the original movie forever, and if it is true that no one can release the versions George does not want released until he is dead, then we will be at least into the next video format before that happens.

Sigh.....why does anyone bother anymore?

I always thought this was a cool pic Fett overlooking the Solo/Lando meeting on the platform.

Artist's signature is in the bottom right corner. Doesn't look like McQuarrie's style, either, who incidentally retired at about the same time production on The Phantom Menace started.

I still like the 'Faces' laserdisc covers. They're clean and simple and wonderfully effective, those glossy gatefold covers were gorgeous. Wish I'd never sold mine.

The original movie posters should be the Blu-Ray covers:

http://aggressivecomix.com/wp-conten...ger-Kastel.jpg

They can of course make some little changes to fit them better on the cover.

Those would make for good disc art, actually. Given the limited square footage that a 5" circle gives, the less cluttered the better.

I'm sure Disney and Fox can get to agreement to release the original versions on Blu-Ray. Why they would want to miss the best opportunity to make most money? It would be smart to release when their sequels are coming to theaters.

Fox only has distribution rights to Star Wars. They do not OWN Star Wars.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...-tie-up-384541

Distribution is only that. Think of it this way. I own a newspaper business, I hire a distribution agency to deliver those newspapers to various retailers and markets. The distribution agency can't tell me what I can publish or when, they only get to distribute what I tell them to, when I tell them to. I pay the distributor for their services, or they get a cut of the profits from the sales, or both. Fox has lifetime distribution rights to Star Wars, which only means that any time LucasFilm wants to release it, Fox gets the job. That's it. That's all that means. How much is that worth? With rumors Disney might be eying a possible purchase of Time/Warner for $87 billion, pretty sure they'd be able to fork over some moolah to buy that distribution contract out -- or even agree to LucasFilm extending the distribution deal with Fox for all six films in exchange for final rights to the original Star Wars, or signing a distribution deal with Fox for the next three films in exchange for the distribution rights for Star Wars (which would make fans pretty happy as the next films would have that Fox fanfare).

I would hope to see a truly "Original" cut of Star Wars (1977) - meaning that it wouldn't have any subtitle reference to "A New Hope" either. That classic film deserves to considered separately from the rest, as is historically accurate.

I personally hope that they give a "seemless branching" option that allows for it to be seen with or without the "Episode IV: A New Hope" added to it.

If we just get one or the other, I'll live with it, but having both options would be optimal.

Typical dumb Boba: standing right out in the open. One glance up and they see him standing there in broad daylight. I guess that should be expected from a dude killed by a blind man...

You're right. Rereading online this weekend got my details mixed up so yeah, this deal will happen. The question remains the price.

Personally, don't really care. Love the Saga set out now. If Fox and LucasFilm make a deal to release the theatrical cuts of the trilogy, they only way I'd buy the set is if the set includes every cut of each film and all of the supplement material that's been released on disc.

I'll never watch the theatrical cuts again but it would nice to have them.

What personally interests me is if Lucas is consulted on this. I get it. The majority hate the guy but he should be consulted on this particular issue.
