if the set did come with digital copies, they would be the special editions, which the majority of people around here don't like

wouldn't it be a lot easier to get one of the thousands of "unofficial" digital copies floating around out there

you get a high quality version of the theatrical release for each of the OT films, maybe even in higher quality than an official digital copy would be

BUT DONT EVEN CONSIDER DOING THIS! IT'S JUST PLAIN WRONG!

I am not sure what he is talking about with the download, but quite a bit of people didn't like the Special Editions for various reasons.

I think that is the scene, but the dialogue was changed for the Holiday Special. Hence the "Households In The System" comment.

As well as the awful music....

About the deleted scenes has it been comfirmed that the scenes from the prequel DVD's aren't included? I'll be disappointed if they're absent.

It looks like a lot of scenes are in their animatic form but we do get Anakin killing Shak Ti in the temple, when we had General Greivous killing her on his ship previously.

Plus we get Luke in his facemask in Empire which I remember from years back. Although where I saw it I can't remember, I thought it might have been in the comic/graphic novel?

Samples of all 6 films in 720p. I'm sure it's been posted already but what the heck.

Initial answers from hometheaterforum.com's chat about the upcoming release. More will be given later (http://www.hometheaterforum.com/t/31...ant-to-know/60)

I have some initial answers and will be putting together a full report which will take a few days after I finish digesting some of what I saw and heard. Please note that I won't be providing any additional info until I have a chance to write everythign up. In the meantime here is some info for you to digest:

They used the digital files from the 2004 release as a starting point for the Blu-ray release. They then made a lot of tweaks and fixes:

Light sabers? Check.
"Humdinger Glitch"? Check
Color timing? Check
Other effect cleanup? Check

The audio for all the films was tweaked. It was readily apparent that it was a labor of love for Matthew Wood who worked with Ben Burtt. Episode 4 got the most attention since originally it was a mono mix with no separation. He went back to the original masters to make the new mix. George Lucas and Ben Burtt were heavily involved in the entire process including balancing the score against the effects. There are a few places where Matthew found some snippets of background dialog that was never used on the masters and he put them in. I'll have additional details as part of our expanded coverage.

I had the opportunity to view some deleted scenes and WOW there is some good stuff there, some great deleted scenes and alternate takes. They have not been "restored" and quality varies clip by clip.

The packaging is very nice. The complete series set is a book with thick cardboard pages and great art (I have pics of each page that I will post with my complete write up. If you opt for either of the three film sets its a standard three disc Blu-ray case in a cardboard sleeve.

As to the original cuts? The company line is this is what George Lucas's vision for the films is. While its up to everyone to vote with their wallet, In my opinion if you boycott this release because of that you are going to be missing a otherwise fantastic release.

Does this mean we're getting a 5.1 mix created from the original mono mix? Complete with alternate dialog and all?! This would be awesome, especially in addition to a 5.1 mix from the original stereo mix, with the dialog and sound effects we're all used to hearing.

i was hoping for the familiar 5.1 mix (lossless), plus a lossless mono track.

So if say someone does not like the "current" release and they boycott it they will be missing out on what exactly? A fantastic release that they don't like? Makes perfect sense to me....

This makes even less sense...

So you prefer the unaltered versions over the SE, you still get the Prequels and 3 discs of bonus content...

Besides, who knows what changes were made for this release, this will be a new version that has not been seen before, despite my preference for the UOT, I'll be buying the set for that reason alone.

He's just saying, from what he saw, it's a fantastic package...even if it's the Special Editions.

But, can we not get into that? What he posted sounds very, very promising...like Lucas and ILM have been working on this set for a LONG while.

Beast,

Not a problem. Even with this little bit of info, this sounds like this project has been worked on for more than a year.

It sounds, not including the theatrical cuts, like a lot of work went into this.

Obviously, not everyone will be satisfied but I think this set is going to be aces.
