Glad your in the forum so you can tell us how it REALLY is.
Never claimed I know how it REALLY is. Is this the first time you've ever seen an opinion, or do you just like to post meaningless attacks? Maybe you can enlighten us with the truth then. I'll be over here waiting for hell to freeze over.

Default "Star Wars The Trilogy" and the Prequels OUT NOW on DVD

When "Star Wars The Trilogy" and the Prequels are released on blu ray locally in AUSTRALIA I will buy everything! I will even buy the same title more than once if it means getting different or limited packaging!

For now, I watch my dvd's, and I watch them often. They rarely get put away properly. They are always close to hand. In fact I watch them so often that may be I can wait for the blu ray release of these movies.

What they do release in the end will be welcome.
What they are working on now will be of course the directors' current vision for the titles which he owns.

Im always happy with directors adding new stuff to their films just as long as the original are avaliable.

My Dream release for the BDs of the series would be:

The 3 original films - All versions
All the extras on the DVDs

Plus:
The Complete Droids and Ewoks Series
Deleted Scenes
The Ewok Short film made on the set of Return on the Jedi
Alternative Commentries
The Holiday Special (Im dreaming remember )
Advertisements for Toys from the 70's/80s plus any from the 90s.
Pdfs of all the Annuals and related books that came out at the time
Complete Scores in Blu Ray quality.
All foreign trailers.

Well, now when we say 'original films - All versions', we also need to throw in there...1080p anamorphic due to that 'POS laserdisc UOT version' that was thrown in with the last DVD release.

No such thing as 1080p anamorphic.

Should I be excited to see this train wreck on Blu-Ray? I'm not. The absolute GALL of Lucas to claim that the flopped surround tracks were "intentional" so as to not pay for a recall...why should we reward people who spit in your face and tell you its for your own good?

Until I hear major corrective work has been performed to restore Star Wars in terms of color timing and sound mixing, I just don't give a damn.
The colour timing was horrendous, especially in the first one. I watched it on a 100" screen. The colour kept flickering throughout the movie, it was annoying. There were also some odd-looking smudges and sharpened edges. For instance, the robots are in the desert, you wouldn't know it was their space pod in the background. It was just a blue shape. Very blue.

Unless...

Perhaps Lucas intentionally picked two actors that fans would hate so that when he fell we would cheer the good and jeer the dark. Now when you watch all six films you end up hating every scene with the Empire because of how much of an emo wuss Darth Vader really is.

Bravo Lucas. You made us truly hate cinemas greatest villain.
hahaha...awesome!!!

- LOL -

Yeah, I remember when the DVD first hit, fans on various SW boards were asking what the heck that 'blue blob' was.

And I also noticed that color flickering issue throughout 'A New Hope' too. Just going from memory, the desert sands, Chewbacca and 3PO would do it. And in 'Empire' there were a couple of instances of it happening to Vader's super-duper Star Destroyer.

I am curious then about the color timing issue, if it really is as bad as everyone says I have to ask a complicated question.

Mostly because back then I thought the DVD's looked amazing but here is the thing, when Star Wars came out on DVD for the first time I still had a CRT set, an SDTV set from Sony it was a Trinitron Wega set. Now we have a Philips LCD 1080p set and I haven't tried watching the DVD's on it yet, mostly because I am kinda waiting to see Star Wars next when they hit Blu Ray. but also cuz I don't really like watching DVD's on that set too much.

Now my question is, is the color issue as noticeable or even noticeable at all on an SDTV set or is it because people are watching them on HDTV sets that they notice the issue? I do not have an CRT set anymore, well my sister has a really old one with bad picture tube she keeps for the kids old vhs tapes, but that's not good enough to test.

So I will re-word the question, is the color issue as bad on a regular tv set or would you only notice it on a digital or hd set? Just because I really thought they looked good when I first watched them and never noticed any of the problems people talk about.

I have watched the Star Wars DVDs on my Sharp and Sanyo sets several times. The color timing issues are there, but they're only prevalent during some brief moments. In the majority, colors are actually handled quite well.

But that doesn't tell me if they are normal sets or not.
