@ Post Prod

we discuss the blu-ray set... we can't really give details about it because we don't know anything.

All the info here is coming from stuff that's been posted elsewhere

In the discussion of the blu-ray set, other issues are brought back to light and Star Wars fans cannot resist getting their two cents worth in a debate.

It's always been like this, and it always will be. This is what any Star Wars discussion (blu-ray, DVD, VHS, etc.) entails.

But for me, I actually came here to read about the blu-rays.
I don't have a passion to have a general debate on star wars.
Or read it. Over and over. and over. and over again. This is a general topic discussion in a niche thread.

I kept my mouth shut about for the first 1000 pages.

Once again, this is where I thought I would come to read about updates for the star wars blu-ray. at blu-ray.com, in the blu-ray forum, in the thread for the Sept 16 release of said blu-ray set.

Am I surprised that the majority of what's here is not about the set. No.

I simply thought, maybe there would be a few, just a few people here, who came for the same thing. Or maybe a few passionate (yet mature) fans that can concede there are other places to rehash the same star wars debates.

It happened in the LOTR thread. It's happened here.

I'm not trying to DEBATE you on this. I am simply trying to ask people to please stay on topic. I like this site and this forum and use it often.

and again if you can think of a place more appropriate to talk/read about the actual blu-ray release and avoid the "Is the animated stuff truly canon? Whats a TRUE Sw fan? ect ect".

I know I know, restraint, is a lot to ask when emotions are so high. Emotions about Star Wars.
Very well stated.....

This thread should be about the BD release, and NOT about the storyline, what happened in the animated series, what happened in the books, what is going on with George Lucas' wife, etc.... all nonsense that I've read here (and I rarely enter this thread)

Please remain on topic in regards to the discs being released in a few weeks (that's pretty soon )

I think they are pretty entertaining films..... how's the transfer, bonus materials, etc.... those are my only concerns, and I think that has all been answered, and then some.

There is a general Movie forum for discussing the plot, casting, etc. There is a "Book" subforum where you can discuss the printed material as well.

I understand your point completely and agree... Maturity level in here is a bit lacking to say the least. It is entertaining though... some outrageous viewpoints in here. As touchy of a subject SW is, it would be hard finding a decent one... I will PM you my favorite.

The weird thing is though... this is probabably the only "Blu-Ray Movie" topic where discussion of the "Movie" on the discs is frowned upon.

Every other thread on this area of the film involves discussion about the film contained on the discs being released.

I can understand not allowing it if we were buying Star Wars brand blank blu-ray discs for our burners. So it's kinda absurd.

I agree. Its tough to stay on topic in a forum where you state: "I hope they fixed the color issues in the 2004 transfer for the blu ray." Only to have someone state shortly thereafter that: "The colors are the way the creator intended them to be." where it was obviously an error in the processing. It starts a nasty debate that spirals out of control.

Anyway, back to the blu rays, looks like those color errors are fixed and I has an 'excite!' for the blu rays.

Some off-topic discussion is only natural though. It's the stream of consciousness of discussion.

Like earlier, where the still of Obi-Wan versus Grevious revealed Obi-Wan to be wearing a glove.

Naturally that led to the discussion of the Boga lizard mount that Obi-Wan rides in RotS on Utapau.
Leading to the discussion of Obi-Wan's howl in ANH, which was changed for the last DVD to more resemble the cry of the Boga.
Leading to discussion of whether we'd get the original howl, the 2004 DVD howl, or a new howl all together.

Bravo! I rarely come to these forums, but was feeling bored today so wanted to check for updates on the Star Wars set. Imagine my surprise when I saw over 1,000 pages! Now imagine my further surprise when I discovered there was hardly information here about the sets at all!

I digress.
Since growing up with the first one, I have always liked the Star Wars movies. To be honest, I've never noticed that light sabers where too red or too pink. That was never what I watched the movies for. Was this an issue with the special effects used or was it different based on transfer? One thing I have always noticed were the blocks that appear around the space ships while they fly threw space. Any word if this has been addressed?

As a funny note, I found it very interesting how critical everyone is of George Lucas and his changes. When Stanley Kubrick's films were brought to blu-ray, people were in an uproar because some transfers were 1.85:1 and not 1.33:1, "the way Stanley had intended." The audience wanted to preserve the filmmaker's intensions in that case. But when it comes to George, anything he does as a filmmaker is scoffed at.
Why respect one man's wishes but not another's?

Any artist will testify that they rarely feel that their work is done. If given enough time and money, they will forever be working on the same piece, fixing and tweaking it. I feel this is what George is doing, and it will always be his 'work in progress." These are my opinions.

Looking at the HD version you can see that he isn't wearing a glove. It's his bare hand. It's all down to lighting/ colour timing issue. If you look at sections of his face and clothing you can see the exact same colouring.

Kinda hard to discuss films with political subplots, and not involve politics.

Likely an artifact of light bouncing off one of the walls on the green screen stage. It can sometimes cause a green hue to things.

I suppose if you look hard enough, Nostradomous predicted Star Wars
I think it'd be cool if Nostradomous predicted SW. I'd be all over that!

Watched the Blu-ray trailer again and after everything we've seen, it's very clear they used the DVD masters for the trailer. I suppose it's possible everybody else realized that a long time ago though - I'm usually late to these parties.

I just noticed in Obi-Wan vs Grievous shot, Grievous has the exact same lightsaber, hilt-wise, as Obi-Wan in his upper-right hand. Never noticed that before.

Well unfortunately, the Blu-Rays are still about a month away, and no new info has come about in the last day or so. Therefore, things usually default to filmic discussion around here.

Yeah, someone posted a shot of Grevious a few pages back, detailing that he actually carried 4 different characters' sabers, which I suspect was probably an "in-joke" from the animators.
