The CGI Yoda as been seen by anyone who went to see Star Wars in concert starting way back in 2009, he was already added to the segments back then. It's only logical to have it in the Blu-ray releases.

I agree it looks 100% better...before whe he said "Everything" he looked like some crazy bug eyed little green guy! Although I still prefer Yoda in ESB/ROTJ over all of them.

The CG Yoda change is an improvement over something we all hated in the first place.

Like some of the CG shots in Cloud City, they make the city feel bigger and more alive. No one's really complaining about them either.

But then there's the Han vs. Greedo scene, which was changed because Lucas wanted to justify why Han shot him, in self defense, so that kids wouldn't think it's okay to just pull out a blaster and smoke someone.

Changes are definitely not all good or all bad... only a sith deals in absolutes

The CGI Yoda does look better than what they had before. The only change to the near perfect Phantom Menace I would ever like is to cut down on Jar Jar just a tad, in general he is tolerable but at times he is too much. I used to want a shorter Podrace but I have adapted and gotten used to it to the point now I would prefer the much longer one from the deleted scenes.

A lot of kids love Jar Jar though. As do I. So why cut down a character just cause you don't like him?

I think Darth Maul and Boba Fett are pretty lame myself. But I wouldn't demand their roles be cut back even more cause of it.

I meant to say tone down but just a bit not too much cuz I like him too, just at times he is too much. And I will get hate for this but I hate Boba Fett. Always have always will.

The cgi Yoda does look a lot better! TPM puppet always looked really bad imo. Well this is the one change George made that I like, as long as he doesn't touch the puppet in OT! That puppet looked really good to me, and imo better than the cgi.

Smile More changes

Hi everyone,

I've been reading some of the reactions people have had in this forum to the changes George Lucas has made to films. Here is my opinion on the subject. I'll use a spoiler tag -- since nobody asked my opinion and may not wish to read it.

[Show spoiler]I - for one - am very excited to see what little changes George Lucas has made to the films. It's just something that I enjoy picking up when I watch the films. One of the "changes" I'm most excited about is the "new" sound mix that Matthew Wood has done for A New Hope. I don't think there will be any new CGI added (aside from the CGI Yoda) in the form of characters/ships/objects etc., I think that the new additions might be little details like lights in light fixtures, deleting the shadows the light sabers cast in ROTJ maybe? Stuff like that.

I think George Lucas has all the right to change his work as he sees fit. Even the movies he didn't direct, since he is the main creative force behind all of the six movies, even when he didn't personally sit down and write and/or direct two of them. I believe that main responsibility for Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand was to direct actor on set (I'm specially thankful for Irvin Kerhner's direction in TESB since directing acting isn't GL's forte.)

With about 3 weeks away I'm surprised we haven't seen any TV ads for this. I remember the 2004 DVD ad showing a lot on TV, I hope they have some great ads to spread the word!

To do 4k scans of Episode I and the Original Trilogy, they'd have to rebuild the CG from scratch wouldn't they?
