They were Jedi Extras in the Battle of Geonosis in the Arena. Nothing more. No dance sequence or anything like that.

Can you guys PLEASE move OT discussions to the Pez thread, because I would *like* to contribute to this discussion, but don't want to run afoul of mods.

All the new info has been discussed and it keeps leading these off topic discussion. Honestly, unless they close the thread or do temp bans for anyone who goes off topic its not going to stop. The thread moves to fast and has way too much traffic to stop all off topic discussion. As long as it stays civil, as civil as star wars fans can be, I don't see why ita a big deal. We have a thread for it I know, but its just to hard to stop it in this thread.

So how about that Box art, sounds like people are liking it a lot more when they actually see it in person, at least from what I've read.

And nothing has been dispelled yet and it won't be until the blu-rays are out. Funny how people are saying that these new screencaps are showing proof that the colour timing has been changed, yet when someone proves that they are the same as the 2004 versions, they say that they aren't from the blu-rays.

You are so wrong. You will find that most people who don't like all the changes and just want the OUT don't like the prequels so they couldn't really care less what changes are done to these films. Whereas many who like all the changes done to the originals like the PT but also like any updates that are thrown at them. There isn't the same call for the theatrical versions of the PT as there is for the original trilogy. I've probably only seen a handful of people complaining that there has never been a release of the theatrical versions of the PT apart from on laserdisc or VHS.

But it isn't all about the changes done to the OT anyway. Its about the suppression of a version of a trilogy of movies that people loved for 20 years. Sure there are the controversial changes that were done for the SE's that a great many hate, but others that they are not so bothered about. If George would have just respected the fans that gave him the opportunity to do all the prequels, TV shows etc then the whole backlash about the constant changes would never have arisen. But the main problem that always seems to start the fire is when anyone says anything negative, no matter how small, about anything Star Wars and they are bombarded with the usual "haters" remarks and then told that if you don;t like everything Star Wars then " you are not a true fan" and then get attacked with sly, but not very well hidden, personal attacks.

Oh, and by the way, these same people that you say just like to shout about the OUT, do fan films and become known for their outrage have actually done preservations of the original theatrical versions of the Prequels, so there are those that don't like all the changes, even to the prequels.
Adywan, you should know me better. I made the original comment with my tounge planted firmly in my cheek

I am not a prequel apologist, nor am I a special edition lover. You know that my posts regarding no blu ray footage being released to date have been plenty and largely ignored.

Of all of the OT.com member who constantly whine about people here, you are the only one I have seen prepared to stand your ground and back up your statements. In fact, I even stood beside you in the Danny Boy debacle

I just find the whole thing amusing that changing Yoda for a CGI version in this release is applauded. It is a major and lengthy change (albeit a very good and welcome one) that receives nothing but praise. Imagine the outcry if something similar were to happen to Yoda in ESB. Would it receive such unanimous praise?

Again, I have been vocal about the need for all versions of the OT to be made available as the originals are what I saw in the theatre over 30 years ago. Change is good, but only if the original is still in place which sadly is increasingly not the case for Star Wars, be it OT or now PT.

When and if the absolute definitive set comes out on whatever format supersedes blu ray, justice will only be done if every change, amendment and replacement stands side by side with the original.

A ton of information is slowly coming out now showing that nearly 4 years has been spent modifying this set. Let's hope it proves to be worthwhile as it will be the final dip for a lot of people otherwise.

So the official date is the 16th, I am pretty bad a math how much longer is that? It is supposed to be on a Friday too right?

What is everyone's viewing plans when these come out?

Since it is a weekend my plan is to either invite my sisters and their kids over for an all day Star Wars marathon with treats, pop, and trivia or lock myself in my bedroom for the weekend and digest every single second of ever single feature, special feature, deleted scene, commentary, and whatever else turns up. I guess it depends mostly on what my sisters and their families are doing that weekend.

Very True... I get what your saying. I just keeping getting on here hoping for a new bit of news, or at least thoughtful discussion about the release... nope just more (seemingly) angry people having the same age old argument... Oh well what can ya do As for my $.02, I'm excited to finally see these on blu-ray!

Yeah, it looks pretty good. However, I think i prefer the separate trilogy artwork, but I'm not willing to give up those extra discs!

The yoda puppet in Episode 1 TPM looked awful and looked nothing like how yoda looked in episodes 2 and 3. I'm glad it was change to the CGI yoda for episode 1 TPM for the blu-ray release to match the other 2 versions of yoda in episodes 2 and 3.

These clips don't really give much in terms of the actual crisp quality of the picture. The sound in those clips is pretty rad though. You'd have to be crazy to dislike it over older versions. I'm pretty jazzed about the A New Hope mix.

Its thr same for me. I come in here hoping for more news, but instead there is all this hateful debate. I am definitely guilty of going off topic in here, though. Sometimes I just can't help myself.

This is pure tinfoil hat cult craziness connecting those 2 things. (seriously dude, some people just like the new Yoda, it means nothing)

I know it's highly unlikely that they made any changes to Episode 2 but there is one Yoda scene in the movie that is in need of improvement. At the beginning Yoda is speaking with some other Jedi and Palps and said some things. I forget what he says but one thing is "impossible to see the future is"....in that scene IMO Yoda needs improvement as he looks TERRIBLE during that time in the chair.

Star Wars Aficionado's Blog has direct links to all the scenes on the new Moments website...

http://starwarsaficionado.blogspot.c...eak-peeks.html

And dammit if the scene with Luke igniting Anakin's Saber for the first time doesn't look downright beautiful.

Nice bright hot white core? Check. Nice bright blue edge to the blade? Double check.

We confirmed that missing music has been restored, reversed music channels have been corrected, and the podrace will surely challenge even the beefiest of subwoofers. Some of the fixes are as small as a footstep or a line of background dialogue. And now that the hiss has been removed, moments that were supposed to be quiet (not the first word we typically think of to describe the Star Wars soundtracks!) like R2's lonely nighttime trek through the canyon on Tatooine are finally properly quiet.

Video-wise, the masters of the Classic Trilogy created for the 2004 DVD release served as the starting point, which is to say that the negatives were not rescanned using more modern telecine technology. However, many changes were made to these masters to make them more attractive for Blu-ray -- to make them fully exploit the 1080p resolution and color saturation capabilities of the format.
I can't Wait to hear & "feel" my room pressurizing (hopefully ) during the Podrace sequence

As for them Not using the 2K and/or 4K "telecine" machines, I hope in the coming days we get reports from HTF, The HD Room, Big Picture/Big Sound, Bill Hunt @ The Digital Bits, etc., of SOMEONE asking Anyone at ILM "why" they chose not to go that route

I just spent a good hour or so catching up just to see if anything NEW was reported on the BD releases
[Show spoiler]as I worked 4-10 Tues.
& had to browse thru 15 additional pages in this thread!).
[Show spoiler]A few decent bits of info, but alas, still the same off-topic derailments, arguments, political things here & there, with the Occasional comment/question on the BLU-RAY RELEASE ITSELF. Wow, what a concept!
