That was made during TMP, at the time Windu's saber was intended to be blue, and only in clones was it made purple at the request of Jackson. Just like Yoda's was intended to be yellow.

Correct. The chart covers 1977-1999 (it's written right at the bottom of the chart).

Also, that image isn't canon. As the yellow blades are not canon for the films. Plus the sabers never look exactly like that on film.
Canon? Ha! Nothing is canon. It's an ever-evolving process.

The problem with all these 'Blu-Ray vs HDTV' captures, as well as the captures and videos found on the Chinese website, is that the there is absolutely no consistency in the overall brightness.

For example, the 'screenshots' that are on the official Star Wars Blu-Ray site (in the 'Moments' section too) are obviously far brighter, yet in the comparisons made between other sources, the brighter images are not present - they only have greater definition than the 2004 versions of the films.

The U.K release is only 13 days away (or 12 if we get it early). I say just wait those painful days and see what happens, because the more people over-analyse sources that are barely even reliable, the more arguing and pointless discussion that is going to occur.

The Star Wars Blu-ray's THX re-mastered when ILM were plastered?

This makes my brain hurts. I always thought Lukes lightsaber on the Falcon was a training blade, lets face it who'd give a teenager a deadly weapon and then blindfold him?

Saber blade colors

Is there significance in the color of a Jedi's or Sith's lightsaber blade? This is a question that many have been asking of late. Certain sources, specifically the first of the Knights of the Old Republic games contained within it a ranking system for the Jedi Order. Three ranks were given, and each rank had its assigned crystal color for the construction of a lightsaber. Now, if we put this within the perspective of in universe continuity it could be said that this particular system was only for the Jedi Temple on Dantooine, where your character, Revan, is trained(more specifically, re-trained). And thus it explains why in KOTORII when you play as the Exile you've no such standards for lightsaber color, and there are Council members who have varied lightsaber colors. There seems to be no such regulation within the films, however, nor in other Jedi adventures put on film... the Clone Wars micro-series. In Clone Wars we find that the Jedi have a Temple on the planet Ilum, within which we see a cave full of crystals... all of which are only green, blue and purple. It seems that these are naturally formed crystals and thus the limited colors for the Jedi Order. And the Sith, we know, to artificially produce their saber crystals... which seem to always result in a red "bloodshine" blade.

I'm going to take this into a different direction, beyond limitations of natural and unnatural, or standards for the Order... I'm not going to address this "in universe." Rather, I shall address this particular question archetypally. From where I'm sitting, there is a great deal of significance to the lightsaber colors and it is an esoteric mystic symbolism.

All the colors we see sprouting from lightsaber hilts in the Star Wars saga are associated with the body's psychic centers... in Indian yoga parlance, the chakras. These are power points in the Central Channel of the Taoist chi gung/qigong tradition, and in biological terms all these places have a corresponding nerve cluster. It is my belief that there is an esoteric meaning in the lightsaber colors directly associated with these life-force energy points.

Red, the Sith blade:

As we know, the Sith are consumed by feelings of hatred and anger. We also know that they are obsessed with power and strength. The roots of these feelings, the roots of physical strength, lie in the root chakra located at the base of the sacral region. This point is essential in life-force cultivation for the attainment of higher spiritual states, but it must be balanced. Many a cultivator has been consumed by the feelings of strength and power they experience once they've opened this chakra. Deng Ming-dao's The Wandering Taoist tells of a Taoist adept named Saihung and his experiences in opening the psychic centers. Here is a passage about his experience with the root chakra:

"The Grand Master warned him that feelings of physical and sexual power would become so strong that he might be reluctant to go on. He said that many adepts remained at these centers, cultivating massive strength and sexuality for all sorts of deviant purposes. When Saihung opened the centers, he found it was true. Deep sexual cravings and the realization that he could develop the power of an almost unbeatable martial artist tempted him and strained his discipline."

This is the very essence of what the Sith aspire to, or are tempted by prior to their ultimate fall. It is because of this symbolism that I believe the Sith blade is always red.

The Jedi blades:

It is amongst the Jedi that we see the most variety in blade color. Mostly we see blue and green, but we have(as can be seen above) the amethyst/purple blade of Mace Windu as well. While we know this departure on the part of Mace is due to Samuel L. Jackson having asked George to let him have a purple blade, it still falls within the chakra color symbolism. In fact, all the Jedi blades we see have colors associated with the highest of the chakras.

Green: Green is the color associated with the heart chakra. This is the lowest of the higher spiritual faculties. Following the tale of Adept Saihung The Wandering Taoist says:

"The heart was compassion, skill, appreciation of beauty, and artistry. Opening it developed artistic ability and supported the arts. The Grand Master emphasized that creativity arose from this center and that people like Mist in the Grove, an unusually talented musician, naturally had their's open."

According to thesoulelement.com:

"When this chakra is balanced, there is a sense of calm, clear-sightedness, friendliness and tolerance of others. It is possible to understand the needs of others without feeling our own needs have to be ignored or suppressed. We know where we want to go and we can hold our own ground as well."

Blue: Blue is associated with the chakras in the throat and brow. The throat is a light blue, while the brow is blue. In The Wandering Taoist we are told:

"The throat center, not surprisingly, aided singing, but was also responsible for clairvoyance. Used in combination with the Third Eye, it interpreted the perceptions of other realities seen by that center. Often Saihung did not understand his spiritual experiences until the throat center poured forth verbal understanding."

Of the brow we learn from thesoulelement.com that the brow is associated with "clairvoyance, intellect, belief, understanding and analysis of reality. Inward looking rather than expressive like the throat chakra... another function is to leave behind the constraints of time and space because it gives us greater insight." Again in The Wandering Taoist we are told:

"The upper dan-tien, or Third Eye, perceived other dimensions. The Grand Master stressed again that most people, and Saihung, had only agreed to see the world in a certain way and had called that 'existence'. In actuality, it was not real. Reality was the shifting of different illusions, because dimensions co-existed. Using the Third Eye, Saihung could pierce through the illusory world for the meaning behind it..."

Purple: Finally we come to the rarest of colors. This is the color associated with the highest of the chakras, the crown. This chakra is the pinnacle of life-force cultivation, it opens one's conciousness to the Universe, to the Absolute. When this energy/psychic center is opened the individual ceases to exist and joins in mystic Union with Pure Being. To follow Saihung's story to completion The Wandering Taoist says:

"Now he entered his final center. He was on the threshold of a level that was at once a culmination of many arduous years and the foundation for higher states: the crown center. The thousand-petal lotus bloomed. His senses dropped away. There was no external reality, no internal reality. He felt nothing, thought nothing. He merged completely with voidness."

To conclude, I am not saying that the personalities of the Jedi weilding certain colors of lightsaber are necessarily identical to the chakra represented by the color. What I am saying is that these colors are representative of these chakras, and the notion behind the chakras are the ideals of the Jedi. These are, however, the esoteric aspirations of the Jedi in my view.

I think all this excusing is pointless, it's certain that this leak is real, I've seen ANH and ROTJ and there's no way this is fake, the audio on ANH is flawless and outperforms the dvd, even on my imac. The changes to the ewoks make it certain. There is no need for quotations over screenshots, this is the real deal.

LOL! That's one inaccuracy I'm willing to forgive GL for and hope he never fixes! It's an inside gag I share among friends when whenever we have an "I told you so" moment followed by the delayed finger pointing.

As a kid I thought Vader was flicking the bird first time I had seen ANH in the cinema.....

Someone on MF.com named PJVader is reporting
[Show spoiler]two new Vader "Noo!"'s in ROTJ, when Vader decides to pick up the Emperor and throw him into the pit.
. Waiting to see if anyone else can verify if true.

He says:
[Show spoiler]"there is a quiet 'no' as he turns away from palps then as he turns back and picks him up the longer 'noooooo' comes. i think its a different one from sith."

Someone mentioned earlier that the one way to determine if they are legit would be to see if the humdinger glitch is fixed, but I have yet to find anyone confirming this. Did I miss someone confirming that it was fixed in these leaked versions? That would be the one true test.

Hahahaha well I've only skimmed for now, but I can almost certainly, positively, undoubtedly say there is no new 'nooooooo', I think I would've cried, seeing as it would take me out of the most powerful scenes in the entire trilogy.

Most seem to be straight up about it. Everyone who has seen the rips seem to agree on the new Ewok eyes & bad saber effects in ANH.
