Jumpman, could you use the quote function instead of copying and pasting text? It makes following the discussion easier.

With Lucas' "echoes and parallels" obsession, it makes some sense: ROTS's "Nooo!!" as the last bit of Vader's humanity leaving, ROTJ's as his humanity "returning" (I see what ya did there, Georgie; very "clever"). Assuming it's a legit change, and having watched the (cut and paste) clip a few times, I'm neither for nor totally against it. I liked it played "actions, no words" as it's always been, though to be honest (having seen ROTJ hundred of times since it originally premiered) there always seemed a slight, awkward abruptness to me that, I'm shocked to say, the "No!" doesn't do a half-bad job of "smoothing". I'm not interested in starting/entering/furthering the debate; this is just one vey old fan's take on a very new development that I'm shocked to actually not hate as much as I thought I would.

Word.

Might as well have just cut this audio in and be done with it:

Would anyone be kind enough to host the NOOOO sound clip somewhere else? I'm having problems listening to it from the link posted.

Well they're not being improved, the resolution is better, but every 5 years or so we are getting more unwanted changes and additions and old "mistakes" are not being fixed.
From a fiscal point of view, I understand the problem. Money is money.

But on principle, as nice as it would be to have the originals on hand, the films will constantly "evolve" as GL sees fit. From a financial point of view, decide with your wallet. But if you're looking at it based on principle, the additional bit it just another additional line of dialogue to add to the long list of Lucas offenses. I'll still enjoy the flicks.

Although I'd like the same thing as you, as far as I'm concerned, I gave up hope a while back.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't gonna get these, but it's almost entirely for those 3 discs with the bonus features, particularly the deleted scenes. The movies will be nothing more than demo material. Truth be told, Lucas had already ruined the ending to ROTJ for me 7 years ago with the Hayden ghost. This just trashes it even more.

The Ewok eyes are creepy but in a good way, it makes them look more alien like and less like a guy in a suit, i just hope they changed all the eyes.

We're supposed to believe that Alec Guiness made that noise? Maybe he had a serious case of the trots.

In a nutshell, that is what this additional "no" implies...

Regardless, the scene worked perfectly, and this would be plain sabotage.

To be clear, the Vader nooo is real. The audio sounds really good actually.

I kind of agree with you that that's what he's going for with the whole thing. Which is why I think it kinda works.

Like the first two sounds he made were any more "realistic" from a human perspective?

All that bonus stuff will be on YouTube in the next two weeks. And the rumor is that some of the documentaries are in standard definition anyway.

I've decided to stick with my DVDs and not give Luca$ anymore of my cash.

powerknowledge,

I completely agree with your assessment. I mean, yeah, it kind of works, especially viewed in the prism of the whole saga, specifically Episode III's ending.

But, again, why? It's been perfect for 28 years.

Couldn't agree more. Sounds like a kid in a playground who wants to get his own way.

I am so glad that Spielberg has control over the "raiders" franchise. At least Lucas can't get his dirty little hands on that one and @#@$ it up also....

The "nooooo" is stupid, and I can see Lucas thinking, "Vader said it at the end of ROTS and we will add it to ROTJ to make them match better"....

He has lost his mind and officially f&^#Wng crazy!

If by "smoothing" you mean reminding me of the most laughably terrible part of the entire series, then yes. Absolutely "smoothing."

I was stupid and sold my Star Wars DVDs in 2007 to buy the blu ray set. I may have to go buy them again, but they are jacked up in price! I'll still get the blu-rays but I don't think I need to waste $20+ bucks on one day shipping anymore...
